He turned to look at me. "At least she's hot."

I groaned. "That has nothing to do with it."

"You know, he does have a point," Cade added. "If you're going to fight with someone for a while, at least it helps if they're good-looking.”

"Just make sure Grandmother doesn't hear about this conversation," Spencer said.

"Why not?" I asked.

"I'm 100 percent sure she'll somehow get the idea that she should matchmake you with this Zoey chick."

I waved my hand. "You're way off base. She hasn't even met Ms. Thomas.Ihaven't met her."

"That won't stop Grandmother," Spencer said. "I mean, look at her track record." He pointed at himself, then at Jake, and then at Cade.

A while ago, my grandmother decided she’d had enough of our nonsense and wanted great-grandchildren. Since none of us were in serious relationships at the time, she said she'd try to find matches for us. Her record was perfect, considering three of my brothers were now married or engaged. But she also had a great-grandkid now, so I was sure she would slow down, since she'd achieved her goal.

If I shared my thoughts with my brothers, they'd probably fight me on it. They seemed determined to fight me on everything tonight.

"If you're needed somewhere else, we can entertain ourselves," Jake assured Gabe. Clearly, he'd picked up on the fact that the bartenders were waving at our youngest brother in panic.

"I'll be right back," Gabe said.

After he left, Spencer said, "You know, Grandmother might try her hand with Gabe next."

"You think so?" Cade asked, nodding toward me. "I mean, he's way younger than the golden boy. Colton is going to be an old lone wolf soon enough."

I stared at both of them. "You two actually have conversations about this?"

"Only when shots are involved," Cade clarified.

"Or when we want to give you shit," Spencer added.

"Man, you make it so easy for them," Jake said, shaking his head.

"I think you're both nuts," I said before deciding to share my theory with them. "Grandmother has Ben now. She wanted a great-grandkid. That's why she started all this." I patted Spencer's shoulder. "You gave her what she wanted, so I'm 100 percent sure she won't continue her matchmaking project."

My three brothers were silent, and that clued me in that they thoughtIwas the crazy one. Jake started laughing first. Cade followed him. But I was convinced I was right. And if not, she could focus on Gabe. Or on our three half brothers.

Spencer just chuckled. "Keep telling yourself that if it helps. But if you don't brace yourself, it's going to smack you right in the face."

"What is?" I asked.

"You'll see," Jake replied.

"Jesus, what's gotten into all of you?"

"Ah, Jake is right. You're making it easy for us to taunt you," Cade concluded.

I'd been so buried in work these past few years that I was kind of out of it when it came to my family. I'd joined them as often as possible but hadn't been there nearly enough. And I'd definitely lost my footing when it came to my brothers' bullshitting, but I’d get the hang of it again soon. I was sure of it.

"I think we should get out of Gabe’s hair," I suggested.

Jake's smile faded. He leaned over the counter, glancing at Gabe, who was mixing drinks alongside his bartenders. Was he understaffed, or had a bartender called in sick? I had to talk to him about it. He was heading straight to burnout.

Takes a workaholic to know a workaholic.

"Why are there so many people here tonight?" Spencer asked.
