"I can't believe you two," I said. "Why are you behaving like this?”

“We're just looking out for you, Zoey," Dean said in a soft tone.

"I'm not having it," I informed them.

Colton chuckled.

"What?" I asked him.

"I don't have sisters, but if I did, I’d probably act exactly like this too."

"Good to hear that, man," Alex said, his voice warmer than before.

Oh really? That's what it takes for them to warm up to Colton?

On the other hand, I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

"Right, I think we'll catch up another day," Dean said.

Alex looked like he wanted to disagree, but Dean cocked a brow at him.

“Yes, don’t be a stranger, Zoey," Alex added.

"I'm not," I protested, although I’d abandoned them a bit since I'd started spending more time with Colton. I was going to fix that.

Colton and I went with them to the front door. I opened it quickly, not wanting them to change their minds. I loved my brothers dearly, but they were being impossible today.

After they left, I closed the door and grinned at Colton. "I'm really sorry about that."

"You have nothing to be sorry about."

I looked behind him at the bag containing my present. "Can I open this now?"

"Sure, I bought it for you."

"Between you and me, I think showing up with a present helped win my brothers over."

He chuckled. "The only one I wanted to impress was you."

I opened the bag and gasped. "You brought me something from Tiffany's?"

"I passed by and saw it, and I thought it would look great on you."

I glanced at him over my shoulder. "You just bought something on a whim from Tiffany's?"

I untied the knot with trembling fingers, then just as carefully unwrapped the paper. It was so pretty that I didn't want to risk damaging it. I opened the box, admiring the gorgeous necklace. It had five teardrop-shaped stones, each a different color.

"I love it," I said.

"Want me to put it on you?"

"Yes. Thank you, Colton."

Once he'd hooked the clasp, I looked at it in the mirror, undoing the belt of my robe so I could see it better on my skin. "Colton, you don't have to buy me gifts."

He stepped behind me, bringing his mouth to my ear, looking at me in the mirror. "I wanted to give you something that would always remind you of me."

I grinned. "I'll wear it all the time." It was understated, so I could even wear it at the office.
