Ican’t believe Hayden and I have become lovers. The man I once despised somehow first became my friend, and now that has blossomed into something more.
Is it love?
Biting my lip, I consider the possibility as I watch him sleep, the early morning light seeping in through the blinds.
We migrated up to my bed after the most amazing sex I’ve ever had in my life. It was just as mind-blowing the second time around when we woke in the middle of the night tangled up with each other, bare and skin-to-skin.
And now here we are.
But back to the question—are we in love?
I feel like we’ve been falling for each other for a while now. Last night was the culmination of that and our intense attraction.
But are we there yet—fully “in love”?
I’m not sure.
Neither of us dared to say the words last night, so maybe it’s smart to just feel out this new direction in our relationship.
Yeah, let’s see how things go.
Hayden starts to stir, and when he opens his eyes and sees that I’m awake, he pulls me in close to him. “Come here, you.”
I nestle into his side, resting my chin on my arm on his chest so I can look up at him.
Reaching down to play with my hair, he says, “How do you feel today?”
“About what happened?”
He nods. “Yeah.”
Hmm, here we go. We’re clearly about to have the “where do we stand” talk.
Good, I want to know.
Tentatively, I tell him, “I feel good. What about you?”
“Fuck.” He chuckles. “I feel amazing.”
That makes me smile and feel reassured.
Still, I have to ask, “No regrets, then?”
Now he looks worried. “Of course not.” He lifts his head up off the pillow to peer down at me. “What about you? Regrets?”
“Not a one,” I share.
Flopping back down, he blows out what sounds like a relieved breath. “Good, good.”
“So what happens now?” I just flat-out ask.
His hand stops in my hair, and he looks down at me again. “What do you want to happen, Addison?”
