Blowing out a breath and tossing my phone into my purse, I stand, readying to just freaking leave.

Nothing is going to be resolved—not today and maybe not ever.

Hayden

As the week after our fight wears on, I fully expect to hear something from Addison. I know it won’t be regarding an event, as there are none this week. I’ve also been informed that Addison is no longer assigned to me exclusively.

That’s actually a good thing.

It means we did it!

We successfully rehabilitated my image.

You’d think she’d contact me to celebrate our victory, right?

I mean, no one can be this stubborn.

Wrong!

Addison Knight can obviously be stubborn as a bull, as there’s absolutely nothing from her all week—no calls, no texts, no let’s-call-a-truce communication, nothing.

This is ridiculous.

By Friday, I’m actually pissed at her. She wouldn’t even hear me out or give me the benefit of the doubt.

I attend our morning practice and even give a couple of reporters a quick interview in the locker room about how well the team has been playing. I then take a shower and dress in jeans and a tan button-down shirt.

Arden is busy with an interview of his own, so I don’t have a chance to say, “See ya,” or talk with him.

A part of me wants to get his opinion on if he thinks Addison is being unreasonable.

I’ve kept our big argument to myself all week. And it looks like it’ll stay that way a while longer.

I’ll have to fill Arden in on the events of my personal life another day.

I push Addison from my mind as I start back to my house. But then I get a call from the real estate agent informing me that the land next to Arden’s property is mine.

There are a few papers to sign, but otherwise, it’s a done deal.

Wow, I’m pumped.

I can start thinking about having my house built.

But my enthusiasm wanes quickly, as I was supposed to share this good news with Addison.

Now I’m more irritated than ever with that woman.

My blood starts to boil on the drive, and I’m fuming by the time I reach my house.

As I’m pulling into the garage, I notice a package lying on my walkway.

Huh, I didn’t order anything.

After parking, I head back outside instead of going into the house.

As the garage door trundles down behind me, I stride over to the package.

Picking it up and turning it over, I find it’s addressed to Addison.
