Clearing my throat, I glance over at her. “Hey, I wanted to tell you I have an architect sending over a bunch of ideas for the house.”
“What kind of ideas?” she asks.
“All the design stuff—styling, layout, materials, just about everything you can think of.”
She blows out a breath. “You sure are going to have a lot of decisions to make.”
“Yeah, you’re right about that.” I slow to a stop and turn her to face me. “But I don’t want to make them alone, Addison. I want your input on everything.”
“I’ll help you, sure.” She nods. “But ultimately it’s your house, Hayden.”
My eyes meet hers as I ask, “What if I don’t want it to be?”
Biting her lip, she asks carefully, “What do you mean?”
“I mean”—I take her hands in mine—“I want it to be your house too. I guess what I’m saying is will you move in with me?”
Laughing, she says, “Yes, I’d love to live with you. And you know what? Arden called this.”
I cock my head. “How do you mean?”
“Well, I mentioned to him at the Christmas party how he’ll soon be having a new neighbor, meaning you. He said he had a feeling he’d be having two new neighbors.”
Nodding approvingly, I state, “He’s a wise man, that Arden.”
She giggles. “He is.”
We continue our walk around the property, and every step of the way, we talk about whatwewant inournew house.
But really, it’s not just going to be a house.
It’ll be a home—our home.
And hopefully it will be for a long, long time.

I never thought someone you once despised so much could end up becoming the love of your life.
