“Why?”

“Because I love you. You’re everything to me.”

My heart melts right then and there, and I know that I’m staying.

I sigh, “Oh, Arden…”

“Yes?”

Smiling, I state, “I guess I better call my recruiter.”

Like he has to be sure I’m not leaving him, he asks, “So you’re staying?”

“I’m staying.”

“And you forgive me?”

I nod. “I do.”

He pulls me closer, and in a low voice dripping with the promise of the best sex ever, he says, “Then let’s go inside, where I can make you staying with me worth your while.”

I don’t tell him he already did.

Arden

Ican’t believe how fucking flat-out happy I feel.

Willow is staying.

Willow is mine.

We’re back together as a couple.

And we’re in love, even more so than before.

I smile as I sit down on the edge of her bed that’s covered in a dark green comforter. I’m in her bedroom waiting for her. I wanted to give her some privacy while she talked with her recruiter, so I came upstairs.

It’s not long before she walks into the room and sits down on the bed next to me.

“How’d it go?” I ask, turning toward her.

She sighs as she takes my hand, lacing our fingers together. “She wasn’t thrilled with the news that I’m canceling an interview the night before. But I was honest and told her I’m doing it for love.”

She squeezes my hand, and I laugh. “You didn’t really say that to her, did you?”

Snickering, she tells me, “I sure as hell did. Though she was probably rolling her eyes the whole time.”

I need to kiss her again, so leaning forward, I murmur, “Guess you’ll have to find a new recruiter now, eh?”

As my lips brush over hers, she whispers back, “I don’t think I’m going to need one. I’m not going anywhere.”

“You got that right,” I growl as I kiss her harder.

She kisses me back with the same level of enthusiasm.

We clearly need each other—now.

Gasping, we fall back onto the bed, both of us desperate to reconnect in order to put all of this behind us.
