“This is fifty,” I shake the envelope at him, “You tell me everything you know. You answer when A calls. And you make sure we never get hit like that again.”

“How am I supposed to do that?”

“You seem to be a smart guy,” I walk closer to him and place the envelope in his hand, still holding onto it firmly, “You’ll figure that out.”

“Does the DEA know who I am?”

“No,” he shakes his head in unison with his response, “he hasn’t given that information over yet.”

“What do they know?”

“Just that you live between New York and Mexico,” his fingers grip the envelope in his palm, “and no one knows what you look like.”

“Do you know who my snitch is?”

My phone buzzes in my pocket again.

“All communication to this point has been anonymous. The DEA doesn’t know his name or what he looks like.”

“Then what’s the envelope?” I snatch it from his hand while simultaneously letting go of the envelope of money.

“It’s a USB of the recorded calls that led to the raid at the shipyard,” he nervously pulls the money close to his chest.

“And you think this is worth twenty grand?” Andres snidely asks him.

“All of them are date and time stamped,” the agent fidgets nervously.

“He knows things. He’s not some low-level guy,” he begins to ramble, “I thought…”

“You thought what?” I curtly interrupt him.

“In one of them, there’s a woman in the background,” he swallows hard, “and she calls him Eddie.”

My eyes dart to Andres as the agent continues to speak, “And I figured you would know his voice.”

I don’t need to listen to it. Isabella calls him that because she knows it annoys him.

“If we call, you fucking answer,” I stare at him,” Understood?”

“Yes,” he nervously nods his head quickly.

By the time I finish with the agent, Andres is already in the driver’s seat and has the engine running.

Andres has the car in drive by the time I shut my door.

Needing to alert security, I pull my phone from my pocket. I am surprised to find the many messages during the meeting weren’t from Eduardo. They’re from Isabella.
