“You're coming with me tonight,” he says, adjusting his shirt collar in the mirror.

“Where?” I watch his broad back, memories of last night flooding back.

“I've got a match.”

“I'm not going. Even though it would be satisfying to see you get your butt kicked, I'll pass,” I turn away, burying my face in the sheets.

“It’s not a question, and I don't get kicked. I do the kicking,” he scoffs, offended.

“I'm moving in with dad today.”

“No, you're not,” his confidence oozes from every word.

“Who says?”

“I do. Or do I need to remind you about your mother...”

“Fine,” I swallow hard, looking away. “I guess I’m a prisoner then.”

“That's because you want it that way,” he paces across the bedroom, his gaze fixated on the damp floor. “Did you sleep with the window open?”

“Yes,” I whisper, still tucked under the covers, peering at him as he closes the door.

“Did you like what you saw last night?” he grins, and I refuse to meet his gaze.

“Quite mature of you to ask,” I pull the sheet over my head and bite my cheek.

“I bet you were pretty heated last night,” he cracks his neck, the sound echoing through the room. “Why didn't you join me? I could have taken care of both of you.”

“I'm not exactly a team player.”

“So you're not interested in sharing?”

“No, thanks.”

“Fine. Next time you find my bedroom door open, know that I left it that way for you. I promise to be all by myself.”

“Keep dreaming,” I yank the sheet off my head and find myself face to face with Manasseh, leaning over me with his hand resting on the edge of the bed.

“Sleep! I need you fresh tonight,” he gazes at my face, his smile mischievous. “You're in for a fun time.” He straightens up, tucking his hands into his pockets, adjusting his modern slim-fit trousers.

“Why don't you take the girl from last night to be your companion?” I fix my tousled hair and watch him walk away from the bed.

“Who said you'll be my companion?” he chuckles, amusement dancing in his eyes, checking his wristwatch, then making sure his leather buckle is fastened correctly.

“W-what? Then who?”

“See you tonight. Behave until then,” he says sarcastically and leaves the room.

I hear my phone ring just as the morning starts to fade, and I reluctantly check the curt message from Manasseh.
