She shouldn't have talked to Sami, smile at him, or look at him. It's her fault.

“Can I be a part of the Crasnics too?” I ask, curious.

“No,” he replies shortly, keeping his eyes closed.

“Why?” I sit up on the edge of the bed and dare to look at him, simply because his eyes are shut.

“Because a girl has no business being there.”

“But Rhea is a girl.”

“Go to sleep, Rebecca!” he urges me, cutting me off abruptly, crossing his arms over his chest as if hugging himself.

I sigh and wrinkle my nose.

“I can't fall asleep. Can we play truth or dare?”

“If that's how you'll fall asleep, then yes, because I have a vague suspicion that you won't stop with the questions.”

“Truth or dare?” I ask, hoping he'll choose dare, thereby challenging him to include me in the Crasnics.

“Truth,” Samael responds without even thinking.

I frown and decide to provoke him a little.

“Is it true that you're afraid of Masse?”

“Me, afraid of him?” he scoffs, annoyed. “I avoid getting into trouble because I'm afraid of myself, not him. Between control and imprisonment, I choose to control my temper. That doesn't mean it's easy, though.”

“It's your turn,” I gulp nervously, suddenly aware that my question might have offended him.

“Truth or dare?”

“Dare,” I say with a mix of excitement and apprehension, wondering what he'll challenge me to do.

“I dare you to give yourself a tap on the nose.”

“Why?” I raise my finger, ready to comply.

“So that next time, you think twice before saying something silly.”

“Fine,” I give myself a tap on the nose, feeling a slight tingle. “Truth or dare?

This time, he has to choose dare, and my mischievous plan is about to unfold.

“Truth,” he responds without hesitation.

I furrow my brows and scoot back on the bed, not fully prepared for this choice, but I'm not backing down. I'm about to unleash the ultimate bombshell.

“Is it true that you've had many girlfriends?” I ask, my heart pounding in my chest.

I did it!

I wonder if he could tell that I was waiting at the door, hoping he'd let me in. I just knocked on the door of his heart, and now I hold my breath, waiting for his response.

“No,” he says calmly, but there's a distant chill in his tone, sending a shiver down my spine.

“You haven't had many, or...?” I nervously bite my lower lip, glancing at his enticingly parted lips.
