I bolted around her and threw the door open.

“Good afternoon, Sweet Pea,” my handsome alpha greeted me from the porch. “I missed you.” He stepped inside, wrapping me up in a hug and covering me in little kisses.

“Ew. I’m right here, guys. Gross.” Anna scoffed.

Will didn’t even look up from where he was nuzzling my collar. “Hi, Anna, nice to finally meet you. Looking forward to joining your family.”

She burst out laughing. “Okay then. Nice to meet you too, brother.”

Will froze, like it had never occurred to him that he was about to gain a sister.

I helped him out of his coat and patted him on the arm in reassurance. “She’s a lot, but you get used to her.”

“Hey! I’m the one who apparently needs to get used to things! Get out of here with your PDA, lovebirds.” She tried to shoo us away like we were, in fact, some kind of birds.

I pulled Will toward the kitchen. “I love baking, so I thought we could bake some cookies this afternoon.”

“I love eating cookies, so that works out nicely.” He grinned, letting his scent fill our small kitchen. I was pretty sure I was getting drunk just on the smell of him. “What kind of cookies are we making?”

“My favorite. Classic chocolate chip.” I reached for my apron and started to tie it on. Will grabbed the straps and tugged them toward him, pulling my back to his chest in the process. All he did was tie the bow at my waist for me, but having him here, so close, in such a domestic little scene, I was in heaven. I couldn’t stop the burst of my floral perfume.

“I love the effect I have on you, sweet Omega,” he whispered against my ear.

“You know the effect you have on girls. That you’vealwayshad on girls…”

He let out a little growl that quickly rolled into a soothing purr. “There are no other girls. Only you, Mia.” I sighed happily and rubbed my cheek against his jaw, letting our scents mark each other, as if our scents swirling around the kitchen weren’t enough to drown us.

“DO I NEED TO OPEN A WINDOW? DAMN,” Anna yelled from the other room, interrupting my little slice of domestic bliss.

We both laughed, and Will took a step back. “I’m making a bad first impression on your sister.”

“We can make it up to her with our cookies,” I assured him, moving back to the counter where I had everything neatly set up.

“Chocolate chip, huh?” he asked casually, surveying my setup.

“Yeah?”

“Have you ever made trash cookies?”

“I’m sorry, what?”

He laughed. “Trash cookies. Garbage cookies. You know, you just throw everything in the mix. Whatever you have on hand.”

I just stared at him. “What? I have what the recipe calls for. What else would I haveon hand?”

“You already have chocolate chips, so then maybe some pretzels, nuts, potato chips—”

“You want to put potato chips into my chocolate chip cookies?!”

“Yeah, it’s like a salty/sweet thing.” He grinned, clearly proud to be introducing me to something new.

“But I have a perfect recipe. And that sounds… gross. And made up.”

“Mia, trust me.” He leaned in and kissed my nose. It was a real testament to how much this guy has addled my brain that I’m even considering messing with my classic recipe.

“One time,” I conceded. “I will try your trash cookiesone time.”

His victory laugh bordered on maniacal. “I win this time, sweet Omega.”
