I wish I knew more about him. I wish I knew more about who and what he was.

The thought bothers me as I enter the master bedroom on the third floor. Calling it a ‘bedroom’ is an underestimation.

The master chambers stretch across the entire third floor of the mansion. A living room, kitchen, and large bathing room are attached to the bedroom.

This is going to be a big job,I think as I look down at the small broom and tiny rags I have for cleaning.

I think it is time to head downstairs and find more cleaning supplies,I say to myself as I turn around and walk out of the bedroom suite.

I do not have a lot of time so I hurry downstairs, nearly tripping on my way down.

I am still thinking about Luocre when I am alone in the kitchen, rummaging through the supply closet for a bigger broom.

I am so lost in my thoughts about Luocre that I almost miss the sound of footsteps behind me.

My heart jumps when I finally make sense of the sound I am hearing, and when I turn around, I expect Luocre to be there, looming over me with his eerie grin and a knife in hand.

But when I do turn, all I see is Rhiucra smiling anxiously at me and running a hand through his hair, which is loose today.

“Neveah!” His voice is high-pitched with anxiety, though I am not sure what he could possibly be nervous about, and I smile patiently.

“Hi, Rhiucra.” My voice is soft and gentle. The way it always is around Rhiucra.

“How are you doing?”

“I’m good. I’ve just… I’ve missed seeing you. It seems that I haven’t seen you in weeks.”

Rhiucra isn’t wrong. I have been working more since Luocre’s arrival because of the zagfers who have left.

But I also can’t deny that I am avoiding Rhiucra.

His gentle kindness was annoying from the moment we met.

Maybe I would have responded to his feelings for me if he had actually taken charge of the situation. Maybe I would have responded to him if he had just taken what he wanted from me.

The way Luocre has.

I shiver slightly as Luocre’s name trips across my mind, and I am not unaware of the warmth between my legs and the way my nipples have tightened underneath my dress.

It seems that Rhiucra is not unaware of the change in my body either, because right now, he isn’t looking at my face but at the full mounds of my chest and the tight, hard nipples that crown them.

I clear my throat, and his eyes flicker back up to mine. The desire in his eyes is naked.

I take a step away from him, my mind still on Luocre as Rhiucra continues speaking.

“I found some more children’s fairy tale books in Elvish. I was wondering when I could bring them to you?” he asks me.

As much as I want the books, I do not want to invite further attention from Rhiucra.

“Um, I've been quite busy lately. I’m not sure if you’ve heard but a lot of zagfers have resigned their positions. I am working all hours of the day and sometimes at night, too. So I don’t really have time to read.”

The lie is easy, and I look at him unflinchingly. Rhiucra sighs slightly and nods.

The question I ask next falls from my tongue just as he is turning away from me.

“Luocre. Do you know him? I believe he is the reason all the servants are quitting.”

I need to know about him. I need to know who he is and why he is here. Especially because no one, including the zagfers, is willing to talk about him.
