“My brother likes to act as if he’s so reserved, so kind.” Luocre snorts. “But he’s just as fucked as me. He just tries to bury it deep.”

I spin around, staring up at him with surprise. “Rhiucra?”

He nods. “I taught him all my tricks, remember?” The memory flashes through my mind, something I had brushed off so quickly at the moment.

“If you think he can teach you to fight me off, you’re wrong. I taught him his tricks. He could never beat me.”

It hadn’t occurred to me then that I never saw Rhiucra fight, that there might be more to him that I didn’t know about.

Luocre pushes me backward, walking me into the bathroom. “But why?” I cock my head, my hands sliding up his chest as he grips me under the thighs and lifts me onto the counter. “Why would he need to know that?”

Luocre grins, tapping my chin up so that I stare up into his eyes. “Because, like all of us, he has secrets.”

It surprises me to hear Luocre talk about Rhiucra like this. He sounds like someone I don’t even know.

I open my mouth to ask why Rhiucra let those men take me then, but Luocre’s fingers dig into my legs then, his fingers pulling at the already tattered fabric. “That’s enough of him. You know how little I care for other men’s names on your tongue.”

I smirk, sliding closer to him. “Something else you’d rather have on my tongue?”

His eyes darken as he rips the fabric from my legs. “Little liar, don’t start something you don’t have the capacity to finish right now.”

Sliding my palms up his chest, I grip his tunic, playing with his hair lightly. “Who says I don’t?”

“Me.”

I gasp as he rips my shirt open, pulling it off of me and leaving me naked on his bathroom counter.

“Your body has been through a lot and you need a shower and rest.” His voice is deep and growly as he demands it. “I’ll push you far but never too far.”

I sigh. “Fine.”

But as I shift to move, he shakes his head. I glare up at him as he pins me in place, making me huff in frustration.

“Let me do it,” he declares.

“I can bathe myself,” I protest as he goes to the shower, flipping it on. The water is instantly steaming, and I’m surprised. I forget how nice it is to live a life with endlessly flowing magic.

“That may be so.” He grunts as he shucks off his tunic. “But I take care of what is mine.”

His pants drop in a flash, and my mind turns into a jumbled mess as I stare down at his cock. He stalks toward me, his muscles rippling, and it nearly takes my mind off of what he just said.

But not quite.

Luocre reaches for me, but I plant my hands against him. I know I’m no match for him, but my resistance slows him. He cocks an eyebrow, clearly unamused, and I can tell that he’s debating just throwing me over his shoulder. “What?”

“I’m yours?”

“I’ve told you that.” His voice has turned into a deep grumble. “Do you think I’m the liar here?” Both eyebrows go up, and I can’t help but smile.

“I guess I didn’t realize that you meant…”

His fingers come up behind my head, tangling in my hair and pulling tight. “Didn’t realize what?” He pulls my head back, leaning in until all I can see is him. “That when I lay claim to something, I mean it? That when I told you that no one else will touch you, little liar, that it wasn’t momentary?”

Luocre shakes his head. “No. I meant that I was going to consume you. Every part of you is mine, just as everything that I am is yours. You will never belong to another, Neveah.”

Heat coils in my stomach, and even though my heart is pounding nervously, I feel excitement. I’m pretty sure I know what he’s saying – in his way, that is – but I have to be sure.

I curl my fingers around his shoulders. “Luocre,” I whisper, already feeling out of breath. “Are you saying you love me?”
