You need to practice with your magic more,I tell myself sternly. You can’t focus on strength and agility alone.

Remember what Luocre does. He takes a holistic approach to training.

I must admit that I have been slacking in my training lately, mostly because the jobs I have taken on recently have been very easy.

I find a great spot on the rooftop and begin to unpack my case. The sun is setting over Vhoig and the light of the dying day is still bright and sharp.

Inside the case, folded up neatly, is a bow and a set of arrows.

I always bring a full set of arrows, but I usually only need one.

I click my fingers and a ball of wispy blue light flickers into life in the air beside me.

My target comes out of the inn then but he is alone, and this is not what the job stipulated.

Kill him in a crowded place. Even in a crowded room. I want everyone to watch him die. And if he is in a sex club, even better.

“You have always liked a challenge, Thali,” I tell myself and fold up the bow methodically before I slip two arrows up my sleeve.

I have to follow my target across several more rooftops until we enter the Red District.

I roll my eyes as my target – a dark elf nobleman and nephew of a certain King – enters one of the more debauched clubs.

I find the rooftop of the club easily enough, but that won’t get me close enough to my target, especially not when I’m trying to kill him in a crowded room.

Finding the vents is easy enough, and while I am quite muscular, luckily I am lean enough to squeeze my way through the vents and into the ceiling.

I remove several ceiling boards as I follow my target to the center of the club. He greets several people as he walks through the club, and I can tell that he has been here before.

If I were your wife, I’d be having you killed, too,I think to myself.

I think back to the fierce dark elf noblewoman I met in a dimly lit bar in Orthani. Her eyes were bright and shining as she spoke of the humiliation that her husband had put her through for years. She told me of everything she had endured. He had fathered several children with zagfers and even other noblewomen while she longed for a child but was unable to have one.

I don’t care about my clients. It makes my job easier. But this client was…interesting.

You don’t care about anything,a snarky voice in my head says as my target sits down.

I understood and recognized her rage. It is the kind of rage that removes all emotions. It is the kind of rage that focuses you and removes all distractions.

Now, I unfold the bow again, and it is quite awkward in the small space that I am in. But I am one of the best at what I do.

When I release the arrow on my target, it ripples through the air, sure and true, and finds its target in the neck of my client’s husband.

The voluptuous human woman who was giving him a lap dance screams and jerks away from him as blood spurts through the air and lands on her.

I smile as I realize what my client really wanted. She wanted her husband killed in a place like this so that he could be found by the King's men in a compromising position.

She wanted him to die the way he lived,I think as I fold up the bow again and sling it over my shoulder before I head back toward the vents.

They’ll figure out quickly enough, because of the trajectory of the arrow, that it came through the ceiling.

I need to be gone before they find my hiding place.

The club is in disarray when I slip out of the vent and climb down the side of the building.

Then I scale the wall of the building next door and sprint across it, fueled by adrenaline spiked by a job well done.

I sprint across multiple rooftops until I find the rooftop where I hid my stash.
