Georgia

After Luca and I cleared the air between us at the podcast, we returned to our hotel room and watched a movie, which, of course, I fell asleep during. I woke up to Luca carrying me to bed around midnight, mumbling something about needing to be awake for tomorrow since we had a big day. I wanted to protest but stopped myself, knowing that he was right. I was a little disappointed when he left my room, but experience told me if he had joined me in bed, we probably wouldn’t have gotten a lot of sleep.

I woke up five minutes before my alarm and immediately checked my phone, seeing a text from Lily on the screen.

Lily: Everything go ok with you and Luca last night?

Georgia: Everything is fine. We decided not to end the relationship… too soon.

Lily: Ahh, good, I’m glad. It’s been sort of fun having Luca around, an extra hand to help annoy you.

Georgia: You and Edward wouldn’t have anything to do with how flirty Éliott and Lucy were being last night, hmm?

Lily: Are you accusing Edward and I of scheming?! I’m shocked. Shocked and honestly hurt you’d even say such a thing.

Georgia: The lady doth dost protest too much, hmmm?

Lily: ;-)

I threw my phone back on the bed and chuckled to myself. Lily and Edward had become good friends this season, and it was nice to see Lily getting close to the other drivers.

As promised, I made Luca and me a cup of coffee before we headed to the track in Luca's rented Lamborghini. Once we arrived at the Valkyrie garage, we immediately headed to Isabelle’s office and knocked on her door.

“Come in!”

Fiona and Lizzie were sat on Isabelle’s couch. I noticed a huge grin form on Fiona Schmidt’s face as she looked at Luca, who came trotting in behind me, looking a little sheepish.

“Georgia…Luca…good morning. Bringing the enemy into the home camp, Georgia?” Isabelle joked, although I could see that she was slightly annoyed that I had brought him back to her office without warning.

“We’ll be quick. I just wanted to let you know that Luca and I have decided we won’t be ending our relationship after the summer break. We both feel as though it is too soon, and it would be embarrassing. We’re going to wait until the end of the season and then decide what to do.” Isabelle’s face was neutral as she assessed the two of us. I had thought she’d be a little more shocked, but she kept a calm composure.

“I see, well, the relationship has been good for PR. If you both feel that way, then I’ll speak to Francesco about it. But I don’t want to hear any more complaining from either of you about future press stunts. If you want to continue this until the end of the year, then you’ll show up to events together without issue.”

I felt like I was being scolded by my mother as Isabelle rambled on about our requirements, and yet, her demands didn’t seem so bad anymore.I almost looked forward to them.

Luca and I both nodded, and Isabelle quickly shooed us out of her office, insisting that Luca go back to the Hermes garage since Lily and I had strategy meetings all morning.

“Well, I’ll see you after lunch for the BBC interview.”

“Be sure to be on your best behavior, Rossi. I know how you are!” I joked as I walked him out of the Valkyrie garage.

“What? Me? I’m always on my best behavior, Amore.” I blushed a little bit at the nickname and shook my head, knowing full well that Luca always had something up his sleeve.

“You wouldn’t know how to behave if your life depended on it,” I quipped back.

“What can I say? I just can’t control myself around beautiful women. What was it you said before? It’s in my nature.”He pecked a chaste kiss on my lips and slapped my butt gently before walking off, looking incredibly pleased with himself.

I'D LIKE TO PROPOSE SOMETHING

Luca

I met Georgia for the BBC interview at the F1-sponsored press conference room. Matteo and Lizzie had prepped us all week for the various questions that were going to be asked of us. The majority of the questions were on dating as an F1 driver, and then some on datinganotherF1 driver. Most of them were generic questions, keeping the pressure off of us to answer specific questions about each other, which was important to the teams. Since we had decided to keep the PR stunt going, Georgia and I needed to continue to look like a perfectly in-love, happy couple.

I was informed that morning that the BBC had decided to make this a mid-season special, and it would actually air shortly after summer break. As soon as the journalist said the words, I felt a wash of relief come over me. I was glad Georgia and I had decided to stay together until the end of the season because it would have been even more embarrassing to have it released at the same time we were announcing the breakup. The special would be titled “F1 & Families” and would feature not only romantic relationships but also familial ones. The BBC had also decided to include an interview with Georgia and Henri, the famous brother-sister F1 duo.

“Good afternoon, Luca. So, we’re going to start with some questions just for you. While this interview is going on, we’re doing the same with Georgia in another room. Afterward, we’ll do the interview with both of you in this room. Sound ok?”
