As if on cue, my stomach rumbled, and True laughed. "You can always tell when Amara's hungry by how loud her stomach growls."

"Great! Let's go eat, dinner's already on the table." Rebecca grabbed my hand and led me to the kitchen, where she sat next to me, and True sat on the other side.

"You made my favorite." True's eyes practically sparkled as they swept over the table before he looked up at me. "My mom's chicken parm is pretty much famous."

"It's my favorite, too." His dad chimed in, reaching for the platter of breaded chicken.

"I can't wait to try it. I've never had it before." It looked delicious, and my mouth was watering.

"You two should come by on Sunday. We're watching the game." Christopher tossed a piece of his breadstick in his mouth.

I eyed True. "Game?"

He nodded. "Yeah, Hale's got a game on Sunday. He plays for the Coyotes. My parents never miss one."

I paused my fork halfway to my mouth. "How did I not know your brother played professional football?"

He shrugged. "It's not something that comes up in casual conversation, and you never asked me."

"All the guys are coming, we can make it a party." Rebecca lit up, practically bouncing in her seat. Excitement radiated off of her. There was no way I could say no.

"The guys?"

"Maddox, Jericho, and Zen. Oh, and he'll bring Kennedy, of course. We just love her." Rebecca sipped her wine.

"I didn't realize you guys were so close to the band."

True laughed. "My parents have pretty much adopted the guys. Zen's an orphan and never really knew his parents, Jericho's parents suck and are totally unsupportive of his life choices, and Maddox… Well, that's a story for another day. Let's just say he's here more than anyone, myself included."

Christopher grinned. "I have two biological sons, but Maddox is possibly my favorite out of all my sons, official and unofficial."

True scoffed, and I almost choked on the bite I was chewing. "Maddox? Do we know the same Maddox?"

He laughed. "I only know one Maddox."

"Me, too." How the hell could he possibly be talking about the self-centered asshole I'd come to know and tolerate over the past year? I couldn't wrap my mind around it.

True's eyes found mine, and I could see the question in his. I nodded once. "We'll be here."

After dinner,we moved outside as the sun was setting. The weather was perfect as we sat under a pink-orange sky. True sat next to me and wove our fingers together, leaning over to whisper in my ear.

"Ready to tell them?" I shivered as his warm breath brushed across my ear and the side of my neck. This was not the moment to get turned on, but I couldn't help the way my body reacted to True.

He noticed and chuckled darkly, whispering again. "Soon, honey." How did he always know exactly what I needed? He was real-life magic.

I squeezed his hand, and my legs together and nodded. "I'm ready."

True cleared his throat, and Christopher and Rebecca's full attention was on us. "Mom, dad…"

Rebecca was on the edge of her chair, eyes shifting quickly between True and I. "Oh my god." Obviously she knew something big was up.

He squeezed my hand. "Amara's pregnant."

Rebecca immediately burst into tears before jumping up and dropping to her knees in front of us. She gathered us both into her arms as she sobbed. I closed my eyes and hugged her back as True's thumb stroked the back of my hand.

She leaned back, tears still streaming down her cheeks. "I'm gonna be a grandma?"
