My mind drifted to our late night last night. Muscles were sore this morning that I didn't even know I had after our marathon. Amara's pregnancy hormones were no joke. Some nights it took three or four rounds before she'd had enough of me. I never thought I'd be the one trying to keep up with her, considering I was her first and only sexual partner. I wondered how much of her appetite for me would last after the baby was born, but right now, I was just enjoying the ride. Literally.

The sound of Maddox walking in the front door startled me out of my daydreaming. "Shh! Amara's sleeping." He closed the door quietly and walked into the kitchen, leaning against the counter.

He raised his eyebrow. "No coffee?"

I shook my head. "It makes Amara sick."

He sighed, glancing at the bowl in front of me. "What's for breakfast?"

"Red velvet waffles, bacon and eggs, and OJ." I stirred the red batter to get the lumps out while I waited for the waffle maker to heat up.

"From scratch?" Maddox almost looked hopeful.

I scoffed. "Like I'd feed the mother of my child that trash from the freezer."

He chuckled. "Damn. Daddy True looks good on you even if this means I've lost my best wingman."

"I was never your best wingman. That title used to belong to Zen."

He sighed wistfully. "I don't know who's worse now, you or him."

I poured the first batch of batter into the iron and set the timer before laying strips of bacon in a frying pan. "That's actually a hard call. I'd say me, but I've seen him with his wife. God help us when they have kids."

Maddox shuddered. "Yeah, I don't want to think about how bad he'll get." He grabbed an orange out of the bowl. "Do you have a juicer?"

"Here." I grabbed it and handed it to him along with a knife and cutting board.

"What did you need help with at this ridiculous hour, anyway? The sun's barely up."

My jaw clenched as I thought about the idiots Amara worked with. "I've got a problem with a couple of guys Amara works with, and I'm not sure how to get them to back the fuck off. I didn't want to talk about it with her around because I don't want to stress her out."

He smirked. "And you came to me because I'm obviously the smartest of us all."

"I came to you because you're the most ruthless of us all."

He laughed. "That's accurate."

"I know."

He handed me a glass of orange juice, and I took a sip. "They've been texting her trying to get her to go out with them, bringing her dinner after hours at work, standing too close, texting at all hours of the night. Shit they shouldn't be doing when she's made it clear she's not interested." I crossed the room and grabbed Amara's phone, unlocking it and handing it to Maddox. "See for yourself."

He scrolled through her texts, his eyes darkening more and more as he read. A muscle in his jaw ticked. "This is fucked up."

"I know."

Maddox set the phone down and tapped his fingers on the counter. "This may be stating the fucking obvious, but has she turned them into her boss?"

"I don't think so, actually."

"Okay, the first step is to turn those fuckers in and see if that gets them to stop."

I flipped the bacon and took the waffle out of the iron, pouring another one. "I know she's going to hate having to go to HR, and I wanted to handle this for her."

"Dude, I get it, but she needs to do this first. Otherwise, shit could blow back on her."

I twisted my nose ring. "And if that doesn't stop them?"

"Then I step in and handle it." He clenched his fists and narrowed his eyes. Maddox could be one scary motherfucker when he wanted to. I knew I'd made the right call asking for his help.
