“Yes, Uncle Tyler assured me that my accommodation has been taken care of.”

“The accommodation is my beach house,” he says before tilting his head sideways as if challenging me to refute it.

“There has to be some mix-up. We shouldn’t be staying in the same house.”

“Baby, she has a point. There are several hotels around the city. You’re supposed to work together, not babysit her.”

“Mildred, kindly stay out of this. This is my business,” he says as he turns to face her. He returns his attention to me.

“Give me a second; I need to talk to my uncle,” I mutter before turning away from him. I quickly dig out my phone and dial his number. It rings for the first time, but he doesn’t answer. I glance behind me and find Mildred entering the first car while Jeffrey stands in place with his hands shoved inside his pockets. I remove my eyes from him when our gazes clash.

“Please, pick up,” I mutter as I dial his number again. Staying under the same roof with Jeffrey is a big no, given how much he despises me. Besides that, it’s not ideal considering our past.

“Phebe.” I breathe a sigh of relief when my uncle finally answers the call.

“Uncle Tyler, thank goodness, I’ve been trying to reach you.”

“Oh dear, I’m sorry, I stepped out of my office for a while. Are you in Miami already?” He asks.

“Yes, Uncle.”

“Oh, that’s wonderful; I trust your flight was good,” he says.

“Yes, it was, but I think there is a little problem,” I tell him.

“Is that so? What’s the problem?”

“It’s about my accommodation. Mr. Rowland says I’ll be staying in his beach house. I thought I’d be staying at a hotel.”

“Oh, that,” Uncle Tyler responds. “He suggested it. He said it would save costs and also enable both of you to work faster on the projects. He assured me that the beach house is big enough to give you the privacy you need.”

“Oh.”

“What the matter?” He asks with concern. Telling him about how I’ll be uncomfortable under the same roof as Jeffrey and his jealous girlfriend seems unrealistic, given his explanation. I will only sound like a spoiled brat. Besides, if this is going to save him money, then it’s nothing. Uncle Tyler has done a lot for me; sharing a roof with Jeffrey for a few weeks is minor compared to the things he has done for me. Right there, I make my decision.

“Are you there?” He asks.

“Yes, uncle, I’m here,” I respond.

“I was just surprised. It’s alright; I’ll stay at the beach house then,” I tell him.

“Are you sure?” He asks. I glance back toward Jeffrey and find him leaning against the car. I frown when I discover the second car is nowhere to be found. Truthfully, I’m not sure about this. I don’t know if it’s wise to stay at the beach house, but I’m not going to allow anything to ruin this project. Besides, the earlier we finish this project, the better.

“Yes,” I tell him as I turn my back to Jeffrey. I feel his eyes boring holes in my back.

“Perfect. I guess I’ll be getting reports from you.”

“Sure.”

“Alright, take care of yourself. If you need anything, you only need to call.”

“Alright, Uncle,” I respond.

“Bye, dear,” he says.

“Bye,” I whisper before ending the call. I inhale sharply while dreading how I’ll be facing Jeffrey. He must be smug now, knowing he has won. If I had enough money to spare, I’d not even go through this stress; I’d simply get a hotel.

I let out a sigh before turning. Jeffrey’s posture remains the same, but he now has a pair of sunglasses covering his eyes. His legs are crossed, and he looks devilishly handsome.
