At the end of the day, the men returned from their worksites before heading home. Some stopped into the office to introduce themselves or to get a look at the women rumored to be romantically involved with one of the employees. Megan didn’t mind it. Being curious was a human trait. She even suspected some of them wondered if she could be stolen away, but that wasn’t going to happen.

There were still a handful of them milling about the office when Arbor walked in with another man. As soon as his eyes landed on her, he grinned. Looking like a lumbersnack in his flannel shirt, jeans, and boots, he crossed the space, rounded her desk, and bent down. After taking her lips in a deep but quick kiss, he pulled back and said, “Hi.”

Megan chuckled. “Hi.”

He turned his head and raised a brow as he eyed the men. “She’s taken, boys. Head on home to your mommas.”

Some razzing and hand gestures were the response, but most of the men left.

The one who walked in with Arbor approached her desk. He had blond hair in ringlet curls that looked like they could only be fake. They were too…copy and paste. Even the blond came from a box, she’d bet money on it. He had a soul patch and a mustache that wasn’t quite hitting the mark on the look he was aiming for. His eyes were a bit on the wild side, which made Megan wonder if he was trying to disguise his true self. It was that, or he didn’t have friends who were nice enough to tell him that wasn’t the look for him.

Shaking off the thoughts, she focused on what he was saying to her.

“Hey. Uh… Ewan said I could get the information from you for the insurance company so I could order a new card.”

Megan nodded and pulled the information up on the laptop. After finding it, she wrote the information down on a scrap piece of paper and handed it to him. “Here ya go.”

“Thanks.” He smiled at her. “Also, I need the form to apply to use my vacation.”

“What days are you thinking about?”

“The last full week of April. My sister is getting married.”

“Oh, that’s great! Congrats to her.” She double checked the dates with him and checked the days available for vacation. “Looks like the only day that might be an issue is Monday, but that’s up to Bruce to approve.” She retrieved the form from a file in her desk drawer and handed it to him.

“Thanks. I’m Mo, by the way.”

She smiled. “Nice to meet you, Mo.”

He gave a nod and left.

“Ready to go, Kitten?”

“Yes. I need a nap,” she said and yawned as she shut down the laptop.

ARBOR

Afteranapbackat his treehouse with Kitten, Arbor led her out to his bike and brought her into town. He liked the feeling of her pressed against his back as they sped down the road with the wind whipping around them. His lion was purring inside of him, content, as he pulled up to the curb in front of the Mexican restaurant a few buildings down from the nightclub that the club owned.

Tacos Deliciosos was a medium-sized restaurant, but the layout provided for each booth to have a bit of privacy. It was perfect for a date night. Arbor wanted to take Kitten out to eat, but he also liked being alone with her. He hoped that desire never faded.

After climbing off the bike, he took her hand in his and led her toward the front door of the restaurant. “This is one of my favorite places,” he told her and yanked the door open with his free hand, letting her enter first and following her in.

“It’s hard to go wrong with tacos,” she said with a smile.

Arbor chuckled and leaned down. He pressed a kiss to her lips. “Very true.” When he straightened, the hostess approached, wearing a uniform of a white button-up shirt and a standard pair of black slacks. She was the same hostess he’d seen every time he had ever been there.

“Arbor,” Sofia said with a smile. “It’s nice to see you. And who is this beauty?”

When he glanced down at Kitten’s face, he saw the blush hit her cheeks. He liked that. “This is Kitten, my Ol’ Lady.”

Sofia’s smile stayed on her lips, but the mid-aged woman raised a brow. “Look at you. Leveling up, I see.”

Arbor gave a nod. “Straight to the top.”

“I’m just a woman,” Kitten mumbled and gave a yank on his hand, obviously wanting him to change the subject.
