Arbor chuckled as he remembered their conversation that morning. The truth of the matter is, he didn’t much care what she wore. She looked fantastic in everything. No, he just thought it was adorable that his mate, who usually wore dress pants and blouses, besides the occasional jeans and blouse, even owned a flannel shirt.

“No, but it helped me decide what I wanted us to do today. So really, we’re here because of the shirt.”

He reached out with his free hand and pulled the door open, allowing her to enter before him.

Approximately twenty feet in front of them was a long counter with a smiling, bearded man behind it. Arbor chuckled as the man pointed at him.

“Arbor!”

“Hey Chuck.” He reached across the counter with his free hand and shook the man’s hand. “How are you?”

“Great, man. Tell Whiskey I really appreciate he helped with that problem last week. Got the check yesterday.”

Arbor gave a nod. “I’ll let him know.”

Chuck had held a large event at his business for a group of men, and the assholes stopped the transfer of payment, telling the bank that the charge was fraudulent. It caused a ton of trouble for Chuck, and Whiskey stepped in to fix it. Arbor didn’t know for sure, but he suspected that Whiskey paid the lead asshole a visit.

“And who is this?” Chuck looked over at Kitten, still holding his hand.

“This is my Ol’ Lady, Kitten.”

Kitten smiled and nodded at him. “Nice to meet you, Chuck.”

“You, as well.” Chuck looked back and forth between them. “I like this. This is good. Congrats.”

Arbor pulled Kitten closer and kissed the top of her head. “She’s never done this before, but she wants to.”

“Oooo… a newbie!” Chuck waved them around the counter. “Well, come on. Let’s get you throwing axes like a champ.”

Twenty minutes later, Arbor stood at the end of one lane with an axe in his hand, but he hadn’t thrown one in a bit. After her third throw, she started hitting the bullseye on every throw. Arbor was in awe.

As she celebrated her fifth bullseye, Chuck stopped at Arbor’s side and said, “She’s a natural.”

Arbor nodded and grinned.

“Ah hell. I know that look. If you decide to drag her to the bathroom, at least lock the door.”

“I wasn’t thinking about it, but now I am.”

Laughing, Chuck patted him on the back and stepped away.

After another throw, Arbor set the axe down and approached her. He removed the axe from her hand and set it down on the counter to the side.

“Arbor.”

He didn’t reply. He just took her hand and headed for the small bathroom in the back corner.

The loud alert tone woke him from the most amazing dream. He and Kitten were having a picnic in the woods around the treehouse. Two toddler girls were dancing and playing in the brush around them. The dark wavy hair on their head let him know they were his daughters with Kitten. The dream filled him with hope and love. He wanted that so damn bad.

Groaning, he climbed out of bed, irritated that he had to let go of Kitten to do it, and retrieved his phone from the pocket of his cut that was hanging on the hook on the wall.

“What is that?” Kitten mumbled as she grabbed his pillow and hugged it. The sheet and blankets were barely covering any of her body, and the curve of her ass cheek was tempting him. He couldn’t get enough of his mate.

Arbor tore his eyes from the sight and ignored his lion’s insistence to take her. He glanced down at the screen of his phone and read the alert.

SECURITY: FRONT GATE OPENED WITH CODE

After checking the time and seeing that it was two in the morning, Arbor frowned and sent a text to Bruce. It would be odd for Bruce to be there at that time of night, but it wasn’t impossible.
