“Leave it twenty-four hours.” I say in a blind panic. “I’ll deal with it. I have, um, connections now.”

“You mean that fucking mafia yacht you spent the night on?” He shakes his head. “Walk away, Ally. Don’t get involved with guys like that. They’re bad news.”

“I know.” I say miserably. Hell, if anyone knows that it’s me but I have unfinished business with Shade Vieri and he owesmenow, not the other way around and I intend on making him pay in full.

He makes my problem go away and I play along with his revenge because why the hell should I care about an uncle who has lied to his entire family and worse, his own brother?

I have no love left for Uncle Lucas, whoever he is now and Shade’s revenge is now aligned with my own and I have six more days to persuade him to help me.

CHAPTER21

SHADE

The car pulls up outside The Queen offices in Manhattan at ten am and as my door opens, I step into the sunlight, covering my eyes with my customary shade. I am dressed for business in a black suit and silk shirt and tie, every inch the successful bastard whose life has become an easy ride.

I am flanked on either side by two identical cars, the men inside them dressed the same. With my trusted second in command by side, we head into the reception area as a black wall of menace. Yes, as entrances go, this one is a fucking statement and I love the anxious glances in my direction as we cross the vast expanse of space, the security guards remaining in position, knowing there is fuck all they can do to prevent our business here.

The receptionist is nervous as I stand before her and say huskily, “I have a meeting with Evangeline Solomon.”

She nods, her lower lip trembling as she whispers into the phone and says softly, “Miss. Solomon will be down for you personally, Mr. Vieri.”

I nod and remove my shades, fixing her with a dark look that has her reaching out to steady herself. It always amuses me that people like her believe they are in danger just breathing the same air as me.

It takes Evangeline a few minutes to surface, and she clicks across the marble floor in haste, her smile larger than the fake tits she has enhanced yearly, never apparently satisfied with the size.

“Shade, this is an unexpected pleasure. I’m honored.”

She makes to kiss me but Kyle steps between us, causing her to stop and say quickly, “Oh, um, well, if you will follow me to the boardroom, I have refreshments organized.” She glances around her nervously and my men fall back and take their positions around the reception area and only Kyle accompanies me to the elevator with the queen herself.

I wasn’t kidding when I told Allegra I knew her boss. This woman has been on her knees before me several times, usually at parties we both attend. I say parties, more like fucking orgies because Evangeline Solomon likes to play hard and dirty.

It’s why she’s so successful. Most of her clients come from those parties. She takes networking to a whole new level and rather than face any awkward conversations with their wives, many of the men that attend them give Evangeline their business just to keep her mouth on their dick and not spilling their secrets.

We head to the boardroom and as we take our seats, I glance around at the glass and mirrors, and feel as if I’m in a goldfish bowl.

She pours us both a glass of champagne and says with a suggestive smile.

“You asked for this meeting to discuss a campaign.”

“I did.” I leave my champagne untouched, as does Kyle, and she says nervously, “Would you like a different refreshment?”

“No.”

I stare at her with a brooding expression.

“I like to keep a clear head when I discuss business. That way there can be no misunderstandings.”

She sets her own glass down and takes a deep breath.

“May I ask what campaign you wish us to run?”

“My lap dancing club, Angelz.”

She nods, but I can tell she’s not ecstatic about it. Having a campaign like that on her books won’t sit well with her other customers, but I don’t give a shit about her business, only mine and my money is too attractive for her to refuse.

“I will deal with it personally.” She gazes into my eyes with the promise of an extremely intimate working partnership, and I raise my hand and say firmly, “No. I have a different person in mind to assist me.”

“You do?” Her eyes are wide and widen even further when I say evenly, “Allegra Powell. I believe she started here today.”
