“This doesn’t feel right.”

“The hell it doesn’t. This feels so right I can’t believe they haven’t got our portraits up on the wall. I told you we are the queens and they bow down before us.”

She giggles, and it’s impossible not to react to that and rolling my eyes, I say with a grin, “Of course. Silly me. We are the queens, and they know it.”

I follow her through the doors with a heart beating out of control. Why does it feel as if I’m walking into a whole heap of trouble with my name written on it in neon lights?

CHAPTER2

SHADE

Ilean back in my chair and fix a satisfied grin on my face, causing Kyle to roll his eyes and hand me a hundred-dollar bill.

As I drop it into a jar on my desk, he growls, “Every fucking time.”

I nod toward the tray in the corner where a decanter of bourbon lives. “We should celebrate.”

“Or drown my sorrows.” He says moodily.

As he pours us both a glass of the finest, I stare at the growing pile of dollars and laugh softly.

“You’re easy game, Kyle.”

“Fuck you, Shade.” He growls and drains his glass in one swift movement.

It makes me grin, and I turn my attention to the monitor and observe the two women striding through the doors to their damnation.

He hands me the glass and raises it in a salute of sorts.

“It’s just a winning streak. My time will come.”

I shrug as I empty the contents down my throat and slam the glass on my desk with a satisfied grunt of pleasure.

“Keep telling yourself that.” I lean back, and he says with interest, “Will you make your move tonight?”

“Of course.” I stare at her image on the monitor and like what I see—a lot. I have studied endless photographs of Allegra Powell, but none of them have done her justice. She is different from what I imagined. I expected a pampered princess whose idea of a wild night was to get trashed in one of my clubs and allow a frat boy’s hand to creep to second base. Not the wild beauty I rescued from the alley. Not the woman who was struggling to hold her shit together in terrifying circumstances. Not the angel who stared at me through eyes of terror with a yearning I could almost reach out and grasp.

No, I have never met anyone like her, and it intrigues me. She intrigues me, which is why this may be a more pleasurable revenge than I first had in mind.

I watch them swipe their passes to gain access to the VIP area, the wild excitement in their eyes obvious even from where I’m sitting.

They spill through the doors with excited squeals and Kyle chuckles softly. “Fuck me, this is too easy.”

I say nothing and just stare at my prize. The woman who will bring me delicious revenge against my latest enemy. Lucas Stevenson. Judge Stevenson to give him his proper title is about to have the rug firmly pulled out from beneath his pampered feet.

I stare at the woman he calls his niece, knowing full well she’s his daughter. Only two people know the truth, him and her mother. Until a few weeks ago, when my grandfather casually mentioned it when we met to discuss our next battle. Knowing she is our enemy’s most treasured possession is too good an opportunity to pass up on.

I will ruin her to slay him, and he will never recover. His guilty secret will be out, and he will lose everything. There is nothing he won’t do to protect his saintly image and by the time I have finished with her, he will be begging to swear allegiance to the Vieri family.

To my grandfather, the supreme ruler of the Dark Lords. An organization Judge Stevenson is striving to take from us. They want us out and they are doing their darnedest to make it happen. However, my grandfather founded the secret society and fights dirty. He has three willing soldiers by his side to fight his battle, and this is mine. My brother Killian, who will succeed him as the Don, will bring about the destruction of the Judge’s son Jefferson. I get the delights of his daughter.

As I stare at her, gazing around the VIP area in awe, I feel the stirrings of anticipation telling me I’ll enjoy the kill. This is the part I love the most. The calm before the storm and what a storm is coming for the prim-looking princess who shines in my club like the brightest jewel. Well, I am a thief and I steal souls, so she had better guard hers well because my inner demon is slowly unlocking the door of his cage and preparing to step outside.

I turn to business and say with a sigh. First, we must wrap up the unfortunate business at hand before we can play.

“River?” Kyle raises his eyes.

I nod. “Show the fucker in.”
