“Surely you feel it,” I said, trying to read the conflicting emotion in her pale-green eyes. “Tell me you don’t notice that pull between us, that rightness when we’re together. I told you last night you belonged to me, and you agreed.”

Jasmine bit the inside of her lip.

“Look at me.”

“I can’t be the kind of partner you need,” she whispered.

I straightened, having enough of her bullshit in not trusting me. “I don’t need kink to be happy.”

She peered up at me, offering a sad smile. “You say that now.”

“I mean it.”

“After all the women and your sexual experiences, you honestly think you’ll be content with plain old vanilla sex? Me, a virgin as of a few hours ago?”

“There’s nothingplainabout the chemistry between us,” I argued, having seen a shit ton of potential if she’d be willing to explore with me.

“I’ve never dated another man, so I wouldn’t know if it’s always like this—”

“It isn’t.”

“—but I agree thereissomething.”

I wanted to drop to my knees and beg, but my cock still jutted out, and I wasn’t about to let her see what a horny fuck I was. “Please stick around. I won’t push. I won’t ask.”

“But you’ll dream about it.”

My lips pursed, and I nodded. “I won’t lie that the idea of taking you over my lap and marking your ass with my hand doesn’t turn me on.”

She glanced away, shifting on the stool.

“You’re afraid,” I stated what I plainly saw on her face.

“Yes,” she whispered, glancing up at me again.

“Do you trust me, Jasmine? Trust me to not hurt you?”

“Yes.”

Relief poured over me, and the corners of my lips rose. “Then let’s just take it one day at a time and see where things lead. I won’t press. Ever. But if you decide someday that you want to try stuff outside vanilla, I’m willing.” I dipped my head, my smile widening. “Whenever and wherever.”

“You sure you’re up for dealing with damaged goods on a daily basis?”

Chuckling, I rounded the island, and her gaze dropped to my tented lounge pants. “When it comes to you, Jasmine, I’ll always be up.” She giggled, and I cupped her cheek in my palm. “I’m falling for you. Hard. I can’t even remember what life was like before I walked into the office and saw you three months ago.”

Her eyes filled with tears again. “Same for me.”

I leaned down and kissed her, slow and tender. She wound her fingers in my hair, tugging on the strands and sighing into my mouth.

The doorbell rang.

“Fuck,” I growled, squeezing my cock and backing away. “Worstfucking timing.”

Jasmine hopped off the stool and followed me to the front door.

I glanced out the window. “It’s Dina.”

“I’ll get it.” She motioned me toward the bedroom. “You go…take care of that.”
