"Can I send it to the number on this card?" I ask.

She nods. "For now, you should call the school and tell them what's going on. Also, inform friends, family, and neighbors and ask them to be on the lookout for her."

With my free hand, I grab Nick's hand and grip it tight. Jenny gets up from the chair. "I'll keep you up to date. Again, if there is anything, call me."

I nod, and she turns and walks out of the door. After the sound of the front door opening and closing, reality hits, and I run through the living room, down the hall, and end up dropping to my knees just in time to empty my stomach contents into the toilet. I grab the side of my cold porcelain toilet as another gush of nausea demands attention.

Nick appears, and he grabs my hair, pulls it backward and strokes my lower back as I keep barfing. When it stops, I wipe and get up. Nick supports me when I rinse my mouth and when I turn he scoops me up bridal style in his arms as if he knows what is coming next. He walks back, sits us on the couch and pulls me tight against his chest.

Brick by brick, my walls come tumbling down. The sobs punch through, ripping through my muscles, bones, and guts. I press my forehead harder against chest while my salty tears soak his shirt. It feels like my heart is being yanked in and out of my chest like a Yo-Yo. Over and over. In and out. The pain is raw, like there is no skin over my pain, and the wind makes it bleed. "My sweet baby is missing. Who took my girl?"

Nick's chest contract a few times, and when I lift my head, tears make wet tracks down his face and drip from his stubbled, wobbling chin. But he's not making a sound, as if he thinks he's not allowed and it pains me to see.

"Nick..." I cry out, "Come here." I wrap my arms around his neck. "It's okay, let it out." And like that, his sobs join mine, and echo through the empty house.

"I'm so sorry, Emma. If I..."

I stop his words by grabbing his wet face between my hands.

"No...don't finish that sentence," I say with a hiccup. Our eyes lock, and our hearts and souls connect. Then he brings the hand that's holding the necklace to the height of our aching hearts. "We will find our girl and bring her home. No matter what it takes or costs, I promise you."
