She sits up straight and gazes into her teacup, twisting it back and forward. After a while, she lets out a deep sigh. "Okay, guess that's it. I'm glad he didn't betray me, and that he helped to make the sketch, but it's time to forget him," she says, drying her tears. "Thank you for telling me, Dad. Do you mind if I go to my room to call Rachel?"
"Sure, go ahead."
Sam walks out, and I follow her out of the kitchen. "I’ll bring sleeping beauty to bed," I say, stopping next to the couch and scooping my woman up in my arms. Alex nuzzles her head against my chest. In the bedroom, I lay her on the silk sheet. The moment I let go of her, she gets fidgety and opens her eyes.
"Cole?" she states in a panicky tone.
"I’m right here, babe." I remove my shoes, and the second I lie next to her, she wraps herself around me and falls back asleep.
Guess it's time for a siesta with my love. I watch her relaxed features while inhaling her sweet scent. My mind drifts to various places, but when my eyes fall on the wooden door, my brain throws a bright new idea into my consciousness that makes my lips curl.
A few months ago, I never expected I’d be here, having these peculiar but wonderful thoughts, but I guess life is full of surprises. Time for a plan, that hopefully will make my future even better.

I twistand turn in front of the full-length mirror while my eyes skim the outfit.The dress is lovely but...
"Okay, enough, spill it, girlfriend."
"What?" I shrug while glancing at them.
My three best friends stare at me from the black ottoman they're relaxing on. They made space in their busy agendas and surprised me this morning by showing up at the apartment, telling me to get dressed because they wanted to take me on a shopping spree. Emma has Nick watching the kids. Amanda called a business friend who owns a clothing store to supervise Venus for a few hours, and Bella took a day off from painting.
"You've been sulking since we've picked you up," Amanda says.
Bella chuckles and glimpses at the others. "What do you think is bugging our girl?"
They bring their heads together and pretend to be negotiating. A moment later, Emma is the first one to speak. "What did the bulldozer do?"
I let out a deep sigh while fidgeting with my red dress. "Nothing and everything!"
She taps her lips. "Hm, that is a vague, contradictory description, Alisha. How the hell can that man do nothing and everything at the same time?"
"Very simple. With everything, I mean that Cole's been doing the laundry, the dishes, and even the grocery shopping these last four weeks."
"Okay, but where is the nothing part?"
I cross my arms in front of my rib cage and shake my head at their ignorance. "Before we left the hospital, the doctor said I needed to take it easy, and Cole has taken that advice to the extreme. He's been dodging or refusing sex of any kind these past weeks."
A cheer of bubbly laughter broadcasts through the air. Amanda snorts while Bella holds on to her stomach and wipes a tear from her eyes. Emma is the only one who controls herself. She has a smirk on her face but keeps it modest as she comes my way.
"Girl," she says, stopping in front of me and planting her hand on my shoulder. "You two have been through hell. The fact you got injured and needed recovery time has brought out his protective side."
I flip my hair over one shoulder and run my palms over my outfit. "Okay, but it needs to stop. That man is driving me nuts. He even refused a goddamn blowjob when I offered."
Bella and Amanda break into another laughing fit.
"That poor bulldozer can only have blue balls if he said no to you. You're irresistible to him," Emma affirms with confidence.
I huff. I'm questioning that.
"Have you and Nick ever been without sex for four weeks? And the time after Liam's birth doesn't count," I mutter.
Amanda answers the question first. "Hell no! She and my brother hump like bunnies; I'm surprised you're not pregnant with another Brown baby."
Emma cocks her brow at Amanda. "Still jealous of our sex life? Girl, when was the last time you got laid?"
