I turned at footsteps on the gravel behind us.

Bliss was flanked by all three of her guys. Nash and Vincent must have arrived sometime after the MC. She gave me a wobbly smile. “He’s still alive, I see? That’s a pity.”

Vincent peeked over the edge and then back at his woman. “Scythe says to tell you, you did good.” He paused. “And…I’m not repeating that, Scythe. You can tell her yourself later.”

We all knew Scythe well enough to have a pretty good guess at what he was probably saying in the back of Vincent’s mind. I would have bet my money on it being kinky, sarcastic, or completely deranged.

That about summed him up.

“What do you want to do, Bliss?” I asked her quietly. “We can’t just leave him in there.”

Her white teeth dug into her bottom lip. “I don’t know. I just want this to be over. I want to go home with my family and raise my child in a world where Caleb and his evil don’t exist.”

I put my hand over my belly. “So do I.”

I stared down at Caleb. He looked small, so far below me. Weak even, clearly hurt though he was putting on a brave front. I was pretty sure his arm was broken.

I felt no sympathy.

I crouched on the edge of the hole. It was too deep for him to even get a fingertip to the top of it, though he wasn’t even trying. The hate in his gaze was all-encompassing. It was pure evil. He was so far past being human, he actually resembled a rabid animal, trapped and fighting for his life.

“You hurt me,” I said slowly. “You held me down, ripped my clothes, tore my skin. You took something from me that I’ll never get back. And I’m not the only one. You took it from Bliss. From Kara. How many other women, Caleb? How many would it have taken to satisfy you?”

He spat on the ground at his feet. “You whores are all the same to me. Feel privileged I even remember your name. Now call the cops. Whatever. I don’t fucking care. Just get on with it. We know you’re all talk and no action.”

“I killed your friend.”

He smiled snidely. “You pulled the trigger in the heat of the moment, with hot blood. What are you going to do now, Rebel? You going to shoot me in cold blood? We both know you aren’t.”

Bliss cocked her head to one side. “You talk a lot of smack for someone well aware that even though Rebel and I might not do it, there are several other people here just waiting on us to give them the green light.”

Fang stuck his head over the edge and pointed his gun down at the man in the bottom of the pit. “Hi, Caleb.”

War put his arm around Fang and waved down. “Howdy.”

Even that didn’t quiet Caleb. He snarled up at the two men, one covered in blood. “Go on then. You’ve wanted to kill me for this long. Just fucking do it. Put a bullet through my brain.”

Fang looked over at me.

I shook my head.

Vaughn gaped. “You are not fucking letting him live?”

Down in the pit, Caleb was smug as fuck. Like he had me all figured out. That Bliss and I were bleeding hearts who would let him go free again, because we’d tried to end this before and hadn’t been able to follow through.

“You underestimate the hate I have for you, Caleb.” I stared down at him, making sure he saw every ounce of it in my eyes. I lowered my voice. “Letting one of them shoot you is too kind. Too. Fucking. Easy.” I laughed, surprised at the tone.

I sounded as crazy as he was.

But maybe I liked it.

“Kian. Can you get the cement mixer on, please. And bring it over here?”

Bliss gasped. “Rebel… What are you doing?”

Kian didn’t ask me why. He just did it. Vaughn, Nash, Vincent, and Fang all silently moved to help him load cement mix and water into the swirling barrel of the truck.

War remained behind; his gun trained on Caleb.
