Hawk studied me. “That mean something to you, short-ass?”

“She’s my neighbor.” I grabbed the walkie-talkie from Hawk’s hand. “Ice? Let her in, I know her.”

Hawk just rolled his eyes. “How many club rules you trying to get Fang to punish you for?”

I winked at him, put the walkie-talkie down, and stood. “As many as I possibly can.” I slipped out the door before he could chastise me anymore for bossing his men around.

Outside, I passed a group of club members with their chosen women for the night, a grill fired up and lightly smoking with some steaks slapped on top.

Queenie gave me a wink. “You’re a lucky, lucky girl, Rebel Kemp.”

I spun around and grinned at her as I walked backward. “Why’s that?”

She let out a low whistle. “Lordy, Lordy, those roommates of yours… They fine, girl. So freaking fine I about needed a cold shower.”

I frowned at her. “What do you mean?”

Kiki interrupted, all too eager to spill the beans. “Vaughn sucked Kian’s dick in front of all of us.”

Aloha leaned backward on his chair, balancing it on two legs with his hands clasped behind his neck. “Then Kian dragged him into the woods, and when they came out, they were looking pretty damn satisfied.”

I hid a smile. “Did they just?”

Queenie cocked her head. “You ain’t jealous ’bout the two of them?”

I laughed. “You saw them, right? How hot they are together?”

She nodded.

I winked back at her. “I get to be in the middle of that.”

Her mouth dropped open, but she put her hands together and gave me a slow clap while shaking her head. “Girl, I knew I liked you.”

I blew her a kiss because I really liked her too. Then turned and went back to jogging down the gravel-lined drive to the big set of gates. Surely Ice was wrong, and Sasha wasn’t really down here.

But halfway there, a woman emerged around a bend, walking uncertainly in the middle of the path. I recognized her instantly and jogged the rest of the way to meet her.

“Sasha!”

Relief flooded the younger woman’s face, and she doubled the pace, tripping over her own feet in her haste to get to me. She tumbled into my arms, throwing hers around me and squeezing me tight. “Oh my God! It’s really you and not a mirage! I thought for sure I was lost somewhere, driving through those woods, and then when I finally found the gates, it dawned on me exactly who the Slayers are and what they do, but by then they’d already spotted me. Also, that guy on the gate? He’s hot. Does he have a girlfriend?”

I frowned at her, and maybe it was leftover big-sister vibes I’d been pouring onto Kara, but I kinda felt the same way about Sasha. “Stay away from the sexy bikers, Sash.”

She elbowed me. “You don’t.”

“Do as I say, not as I do. And right now, I demand you to say exactly what you’re doing out here at an MC compound in the middle of nowhere. How did you even get out here?”

Her face sobered. “I drove, but the hottie on the gate wouldn’t let me drive the car in. Bit ridiculous if you ask me. Not like I was trying to smuggle in bombs or something. I had to sweet-talk him into even calling down to you all on the walkie-talkie, because I needed to show you this, and you haven’t been home in days.”

She pulled a piece of paper from her back pocket and very dramatically unfolded it to thrust it into my face.

I batted it away and then took it from her, eyeing her with a frown. “What is it?”

“Your mom’s autopsy report.”

I glanced up and thrust it back at her. “Sorry for the wasted trip, but I already have a copy of this at home. The cops sent me one.”

She shoved it right back at me. “Nuh-uh. Not this version. This one only just came up on my searches. I don’t know where the cops have been hiding it, but I have an idea of why.”
