A playful glint lit up my eyes. “Every time someone says, ‘Christmas spirit’ in the movie, we take a drink.”

Liam laughed heartily, “That’s... actually a great idea. But knowing this movie, we might be out cold by the halfway mark!”

Bodhi, rubbing his hands together with glee, jumped up. “Leave the drinks to me. I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to whip up something festive.” He hurried to the kitchen, the clinking of glasses and the shuffling of bottles echoing back to us.

Minutes later, Bodhi returned with a tray filled with three shimmering red drinks adorned with candy canes and a sprig of mint. “Behold,” he declared, “The Merry Berry Bliss. Let the games begin!”

As the movie continued, we laughed more and sipped the delicious concoction, the tension slowly melting away. The film’s whimsical tone, combined with our little game, made for an unforgettable evening.

With every utterance of “Christmas spirit,” we clinked our glasses together, celebrating the unpredictability of love.

As we had more and more drinks, I found that my inhibitions were down, and we paid less attention to the movie.

Trying to cut through the palpable energy, the liquid courage gave me the confidence to make a suggestion. “Okay, truth or dare?” I blurted out. “To make the movie more... bearable.”

Liam leaned in closer to me. “I’m game. Truth or dare, Bodhi?”

Bodhi, looking a bit caught off guard, contemplated for a moment. “Truth.”

Liam leaned back, tapping his finger against his lips in a show of deep thought. “All right. If you had to pick a Christmas movie to represent your love life, which would it be?”

Bodhi scoffed, but there was amusement in his eyes. “Really, Liam? Fine. The Holiday. Not because of the love story, but because of the art and aesthetic. Happy?”

I grinned, nudging Bodhi. “Your turn.” Then I took another drink of my Merry Berry Bliss.

He turned his piercing blue gaze toward me. “Zoey. Truth or dare?”

I contemplated the choice, already feeling the flutter of nerves in my stomach. “Dare.”

Bodhi looked around the room, and his eyes narrowed as if deep in thought before issuing his challenge. “I dare you... to kiss Liam.”

This had ended up going in a different direction than I’d thought it would.

Or had it?

I couldn’t make myself believe that this was something I hadn’t foreseen. I wanted this. My brother’s best friends had been in my fantasies for as long as I could remember.

I turned to see Liam’s reaction. He was staring at me, a combination of anticipation and amusement on his face.

Taking a deep breath, I decided to roll with it. I could blame it on the alcohol. “It’s just a dare,” I said, trying to convince myself more than anyone else.

My eyes locked with Liam’s, and nothing existed except him. I smelled his cologne, a mixture of mint and pine needles, and a tingling sensation made its way between my thighs.

What was I doing? I didn’t care, and Liam seemed just as eager as me.

I leaned toward him, and Liam’s breath caressed my face. My heart pounded in my chest, and my face grew hot and flushed. A shiver ran down my spine.

My lips savored a hint of sweetness as they met his, and I marveled at the texture of his mouth. It was a gentle, tentative kiss, but the impact was mind-blowing.

Bodhi cleared his throat, reminding us of his presence.

My eyes had fallen shut, and as Liam pulled back, I opened them to see a smile on his face.

“Well, that certainly livened things up,” he quipped.

Liam’s gaze locked onto mine. “Your turn, Zoey.”

I turned to Bodhi, mischief glinting in my eyes. “Bodhi. Truth or dare?”
