When Sonny had first arrived, he’d allowed some to feed from him, just for the experience, to tell the truth, but he’d quickly gotten over that experience and now they could find another cheeseburger to bite into.

“Oh my god.” Zach groaned as he walked into the kitchen. “Fried chicken again? I swear, if I have to keep eating that, I’m going to start clucking.”

The large pack of chicken legs was on the counter, waiting for Sonny to transform them into Andrew’s favorite meal. “Not for us. You and I will be eating corned beef sandwiches.” He’d stopped at the deli and purchased a pound of the meat. That was the one thing Sonny loved about his job.

Eleazar had furnished him with an expense account, and he never asked for receipts. As long as Sonny did his job, the head honcho didn’t say a word about what Sonny spent the money on. Not that Sonny would use it for himself, though he was dying for a game console and some new clothes.

Sonny was paid well for his duties, but he wanted to save his money because one never knew when a good job would end, and since he was only twenty-six, he had his entire life in front of him.

“Shit,” Sonny said. “I forgot the dry cleaning in the car.”

There were a dozen suits he needed to bring in. That was one thing he’d noticed right away when he’d first started working for Eleazar. The vampires in this coven loved wearing suits. Expensive suits.

“I’ll grab the dry cleaning as long as you whip up those sandwiches,” Zach said. “I’m starving.”

Sonny liked that Andrew and Zach didn’t treat him like the help. When Andrew first arrived, he’d helped Sonny clean the rooms, do the laundry, and even tried to cook, though the guy sucked at cooking.

Zach was super nice, too. He liked hanging out in the kitchen with Sonny while he cooked.

A moment later Zach walked back in with some of the dry cleaning over his arm. “I have to go back for the rest. I could only carry so many.” He held up a piece of paper. “You got a ticket?”

Sonny snatched the ticket from Zach. “You’re awfully nosy. Just for that, you’re eating fried chicken.”

Zach made a face like Sonny had just handed him a death sentence. “I’ll go get the rest of the dry cleaning and contemplate my life.”

That made Sonny chuckle. He really wasn’t going to do that, but he liked the look of dread on Zach’s face. That would teach him to get nosy. Sonny looked down at the ticket. The name on the ticket was Officer Slater.

He could have let Sonny go with a warning.

Douche.

After Sonny got Zach fed and made Andrew’s dinner, he took the tray to Eleazar’s office, where Andrew was sitting on a couch with his nose in his phone and Eleazar was working on his computer.

It had been a month and a half since Andrew had gotten pregnant, and he looked as if he was already six months. Sonny had no clue how all of that worked. Well, he knew about normal pregnancies since his sisters had popped out kids, but he wasn’t sure how it worked when a vampire was involved. Would Andrew go the full nine months? If Sonny had to guess, he would say no.

And how was Andrew even going to give birth?

Those were questions Sonny wasn’t sure he wanted answers to.

“Here you go.” Sonny set the tray on the table by the couch. “Enjoy.”

“Thanks.” The couch was plush, and when Andrew tried to sit up, he rolled back down. Sonny helped Andrew to the edge of the couch before he walked out of the office and ran smack-dab into Amon.

Literally.

He’d run right into the guy’s solid body and bounced back. Amon quickly grabbed Sonny, steadying him. “Sorry about that.” Amon smiled at him, and Sonny’s knees grew weak. The guy really was good-looking, but after his last boyfriend, Sonny wasn’t exactly anxious to jump back into a relationship.

Not that Amon had said anything about them dating, but there was no denying the vampire’s interest in him.

“It’s my fault,” Sonny said. “I wasn’t looking where I was going.”

Even though Amon had followed him around for months, they hadn’t really talked much. It was more like Sonny had a constant shadow wherever he went. Amon just stayed to one side, in the shadows, so to speak, and simply kept an eye on him.

Sonny also noticed how Amon’s hands lingered on his arms. Reluctantly, Sonny pulled away. “I forgot to ask Eleazar something.”

He spun on his heels and hurried back into the office, his heart racing and his hormones going nuts. What Sonny wouldn’t give to have a piece of Amon, but after Bruce, he was fine being by himself.

Keep telling yourself that.
