But if I go in there and stare into their eyes again, then there is no going back.

Because I know how this will go. The three of us will get entangled in something erotically blissful and intimately euphoric. And we won’t be able to stop.

The next thing I know, I’ll be canceling clients again and stepping further and further away from my role at the club. I’ll be hooked on them the same way I was hooked on him just a few months ago.

They will ease into my personal space, becoming a fixture in my son’s life. And then what?

They’ll grow tired of me and move to live their own romantic bliss, leaving Jack and me in the dust.

Or I’ll split them up until they’re both fighting for me and I’ve broken both of their hearts.

Either way, this will end badly.

So I should definitely walk away.

But I don’t.

I stride across the parking lot toward the door to his building, barely able to suck in a full breath as I reach for the buzzer outside. As my finger presses the white button labeledBradley, I notice the shaking of my hand.

Get yourself together, Eden.

This is the first time I’ve been to his home, which is already a lot more than what we had before. It’s only one second before the door buzzes, and I open it. My heels click on each step as I approach the elevator, clutching my purse to my side.

Once I’ve completely given over to the decision to do this, that sense of excitement starts to creep in. With each floor I climb in the elevator, my anxiety is slowly replaced by anticipation.

I don’t even know what tonight will bring. I’ve almost forgotten why we started doing this.

What started as a demonstration turned into an invitation.

When the elevator doors open, the two of them are already waiting in the hallway. The door to Clay’s apartment is open, and they’re just hovering together, staring at me with stifled grins and elation in their eyes.

“You came,” Jade says first, reaching out a hand toward me.

I glance up at Clay. “I said I would.” I slide my fingers into hers, and she holds me tight as if she’s afraid I’ll float away on a breeze.

“Come in,” he says, holding the door open for Jade and me to pass through together.

The moment I step into the room, I feel the sense of control slide onto my shoulders like a sharp suit. I force myself to assume the Madame Kink role.

But then Jade smiles at me again, clutching my fingers, and I realize I’m in Clay’shome, not at the club, and that sharp suit of dominance slides away. Now I just feel naked and vulnerable.

“Would you like a drink?” he asks casually.

“Yes,” I reply with control, setting my purse down on the table by the door and following him through the foyer into the kitchen on the right.

Jade stays by my side, and I find her presence comforting. Glancing at her, I realize she’s wearing makeup tonight, which she normally doesn’t. It’s nothing more than a little mascara and glittery eye shadow, but it makes her already stunning eyes pop.

“We need to discuss boundaries and expectations—” I start, grasping at any sense of normalcy, but Clay holds up his hand with a pleading expression.

“Can we just…have a glass of wine together first?”

I swallow down my discomfort. “Yes,” I reply.

“I know you’re uncomfortable,” he says, twisting the cork in the bottle.

“I’m not,” I argue, straightening my spine.

“It’s fine, Eden. I can just tell.”
