He leans back in his chair with a smile. At times like this, I wish I could kiss him more and be more public with our relationship. It would be nice not to have to hide our kisses in silence.

“So…Eden texted me,” I say carefully.

He looks up from the folder. “Yeah?”

“She wants to take me shopping.”

His brows pinch together. “Shopping? That doesn’t sound like her.”

“For my Domme clothes. She said I need to find my style.”

That makes his brows lift. “Can I come?”

Giving him a lopsided smirk, I shake my head. “No boys allowed. Besides, I’m excited to spend time together, just us.”

He looks pleased with that, giving me an approving nod. Then his expression turns serious. “How are you feeling?” he asks quietly.

I know immediately that he’s referring to last night.

“I’m feeling great. On top of the world. Better than ever. You?”

He contemplates for a moment. Then his crooked smile grows. “Yeah, I’m feeling pretty good too.”

“How do you thinkshefeels?” I ask, my eyes glancing toward the door to make sure no one can hear us. My dad has a heavy walk, so we’ll know if he’s coming. Besides, I can still hear him talking on the phone in the distance.

Clay’s smile fades. “I’ve never been able to decipher her feelings well.”

“But she seemed happy, Clay. She seemed really happy.”

“You really like her, don’t you?” he says, looking pleased.

“Duh,” I reply with a groan.

Laughing, I hear him rise from his desk and walk toward me. “Baby, come here.”

He holds my hands in his, his eyes carefully watching the door. “I think she really likes you too.”

My heart swells at the idea, but I don’t say anything because this is all so weird. Clay is my boyfriend. Eden is his ex. I just admitted that I’m developing feelings for her.

What are we even doing?

He wraps his arms around my body and pulls me to his chest. “I just want to protect you,” he murmurs with his lips against my head.

“Protect me from what?” I ask.

“Getting too attached.”

Then he pulls away and stares down at me. “As much as I love the idea of making last night something real, I can’t let myself get too excited. This is just a job to Eden. Just getting her to come to my apartment last night was a miracle.”

“Last night was not just a job to her,” I argue.

“Yes, but what are you suggesting? Tell me right now what it is you want.”

I don’t hesitate. “I don’t want her to see anyone else. I want her withus. She belongs tous.”

“After a couple of nights, you feel this way?” He looks confused, and I let out a sigh of frustration. I can’t tell Clay just how long I’ve been seeing Eden or how much she’s taught me already. To him, she and I have barely met.

But to me…I feel like I’m already falling in love.
