“I like that,” Emerson replies.

Next to him, Charlotte is typing furiously on her laptop. Then she looks up at me. With a warm smile, she says, “You should be the one to reach out. Do it as Madame Kink. You have the following.”

“Me?” I ask. “You’re not afraid Madame Kink will scare them away?” I add with a laugh.

“Then do it as Eden. They’ll relate to you.”

Tapping my pen on the desk, I smile to myself.

“We can circle back to this on Monday,” Emerson says as he stands from his seat. “Garrett, talk to Mia about a marketing plan. Hunter, run through the ad budget and see what we can spend on this. And, Eden…nice work.”

As everyone rises from the table, I let the praise wash over me. It’s only been a month, but I already feel suited for this job. I see the club from a new angle now. I come into the club with a new sense of purpose.

“You coming, Eden?” Garrett asks, pulling me from my thoughts.

“Huh?”

“Thursday nights, we go to the bar down the street. It’s sort of a tradition.”

I quickly shake my head. “Oh no, I don’t want to impose on your traditions.”

Garrett rolls his eyes and walks up to put his arm around my shoulder. “You’re stuck with us now, E. And being part of the team means you’re not imposing. Also, I owe you a drink after my smart-ass comment during our meeting, so call up your boyfriend and girlfriend and tell them to meet us at the bar.”

Charlotte is smiling across the room. “You have to come.”

With a sigh, I shrug. “Fine. I’m in.”

Garrett releases my shoulder as he walks away to make a joke with Hunter. Alone in the boardroom, I pull out my phone and open up the group chat with Clay and Jade. They’re both at his place tonight since I had a meeting. Jack is home with Madison.

The team wants me to go to the bar with them down the street.

Will you two come?

Jade replies first.

You’re part of the team! I’m so proud of you.

Then Clay adds:

Of course, we’ll come.

Smiling down at my phone, I shoot them the address and type out my response.

See you both there soon.

When I arrive at the bar, nearly everyone is already there. They’ve pushed together two large tables so everyone can fit around them. Garrett calls me over to the bar when he spots me walking through the door.

“Her drinks are on me tonight,” he says to the bartender. “Because I was an asshole in our meeting.”

I laugh as I shake my head. “A smart-ass, not an asshole.”

“Same thing,” he replies.

“Vodka martini, please,” I say to the bartender. When I turn around, I spot Ronan and Daisy walking in together. Waving to them from the bar, I wait for my drink as they approach.

“I didn’t know you two were coming,” I say as I hug Daisy.

“Emerson told us,” Ronan says as he holds his young wife close to his side. “I’m glad to see you here,” he adds.
