“And no karaoke this time. That town gets a little out of control the second a karaoke machine shows up.”

“On it,” Liv said.

“My dick?”

“On it,” she said, and tipped back her head to laugh. It shouldn’t have been so funny, but I was a man on top of the world and deeply in love with his wife. I laughed until I had to wipe my eyes.

We madeour way outside the arena where fans were still celebrating in the streets. Novek and O’Rourke were already there, talking to fans. Someone handed Novek a beer and he chugged it. He lifted his arms, foam dripping off his face and the crowd went wild.

“I hope you’re not driving,” I said to Novek.

“He’s coming with us,” O’Rourke said, his arm around his tiny red-headed wife. She was cute and kept her husband on a tight leash. “We will see you at Calico Cove.”

I couldn’t believe these guys were driving an hour and a half to celebrate at my sister’s bar in my hometown with a bunch of fisherman and locals they didn’t know.

“See you there!” I shouted.

“Your sister?” Novek said.

“What about her?”

“I will be trying to get her to sleep with me. You are fine with this.”

“Oh,” I laughed. “Good luck to you Novek. My sister is going to chew you up and spit you out.”

“Yes, this is what I am hoping for.”

Liv was going to love that.

I signed as many jerseys and pucks as I could. Took a few selfies, fist bumped every kid that came up to me and then looked around for Liv.

She was behind me, on her phone, no doubt coordinating the guys and my sister and her family and where everyone was going to stay tonight.

The high of winning was something else. Especially when we were celebrating it with so many diehard fans. Still, it was nothing like celebrating with my number one fan.

The urge to knock her up was undeniable.

“Heart,” a reporter called out from the crowd. I could see the credentials around his neck. “Want to tell us what inspired your hat trick tonight?”

I wrapped my arm around Liv’s waist and brought her against my side. She leaned in to kiss my bearded cheek. There was a shower of flashes. “You’re looking at her. My wife is my inspiration. For everything. Forever.”

“Ahh,” she said and kissed my cheek again. “Youarea romantic.”

“Just a guy in love,” I whispered into her ear. For her and her alone.

“Someone is getting lucky tonight,” she smiled.

“Yeah,” I barked out a laugh. “And it isn’t Novek.”

“I love you,” she said, and every time she said it, it filled me to the brim.

“I love you more,” I told her.

“Wait? Is this a contest?”

She did that head tilt thing, and I laughed again, picking her up into my arms, because she totally trusted me to do that these days, and letting her wrap her legs around my waist.

“Let’s go, babe. We’re off to Calico Cove to party!”
