“I mean, I wouldn’t be opposed…” Brody said, sending a wink to Kade, making her friend blush and turn her face into Brody’s shoulder.

“Alright, here’s the plan for tonight…” Skylar started, slipping into wedding planner mode. She placed her flute into the holder in the limo’s bar and pushed her hair behind her ears. “Since we only have two nights here in Vegas, and no one wants to fly hungover, the bachelor and bachelorette parties are tonight.”

Everyone but the grumpy lug beside her cheered, clinking their glasses together and sipping their wine.

Skylar couldn’t help but be aware of every little movement from the man beside her. He shifted his leg, pressing it further against hers as he leaned forward to grab the wine bottle. His smoky, woodsy scent, which reminded her of a campfire, washed over her and clung to her like a memory.

Skylar kept her gaze straight ahead, watching the blur of highway and cars as they flashed by. She felt him shift back into his seat, but she refused to give in and look at him.

She wouldn’t watch how his Adam’s apple bobbed when he took a drink. She would ignore how sexy he looked, how he’d flipped his baseball cap backwards. She certainly wasn’t going to notice how his arm draped across the bench seat behind her. Or the way her body wanted nothing more than to lean back into him.

Nope. She refused to acknowledge any of that.

“So, everyone, check into your rooms, take a little break, and then meet up at your designated spots,” Skylar said, snapping out of her thoughts. “Boys, you’re in the main hotel restaurant for food before you’re whisked off to your night, which Travis refuses to fill me in on, but assures me is legal.”

“Don’t want you vetoing anything I’ve got planned,” Travis said with a wink at Lila.

“Should I be worried?” Lila asked, turning to him and narrowing her eyes.

“About me? The cop? Nah!” Travis joked.

“That’s what makes me worry,” Lila huffed.

“Ladies,” Skylar continued. “You’ll meet me in the hotel lounge’s private room.”

“Let me guess, for high tea and yoga?” Dyllan snapped beside her.

“Jealous?” she asked, giving in and looking into his deep brown eyes that flared to nearly black as he held her gaze. “You don’t take me as the tea and yoga type, but I’ve worked with worse.”

“You’ve worked with worse, huh?” He leaned into her, his breath licking her neck.

“With problem wedding clients, yes, I have. Grooms, groomsmen, fathers. You name it, and I’ve had to deal with it. Don’t hold your breath if you think you can pull your big-and-scary act on me. You aren’t the biggest wolf I’ve had to deal with.”

“I thought I was a bear.”

“You’re nothing but a teddy bear compared to the big city boys. Don’t fool yourself.” Skylar shifted as far to the side as possible, ensuring there was no point of contact between her and Dyllan for the remainder of the ride.

“Damn, bro. She’s got your number.” Travis chuckled as he took another sip of his wine.

“She hasn’t got anything,” Dyllan grumbled, trying to convince himself more than anything.

The limo pulled up to the hotel, bright lights flashing from the Las Vegas Strip as the limo pulled around to the front entrance. The group wasted no time piling out of the vehicle, grabbing their bags as Brody slipped the driver some cash for his time.

Skylar had never been to Vegas before and was admittedly a little overwhelmed by all the sights and sounds, and that was before they set foot into the hotel. Under the hotel’s awning, Skylar turned and took in all the tall buildings, flashing lights, and people walking. She could only imagine what it would look like at night.

“What’s the matter, babydoll? Never seen a big city before?” Dyllan stepped up behind her, lowering his voice in her ear.

“Of course I have,” Skylar stood straighter, pulling her luggage closer to her. “I’ve just never seen this big city before. And stop calling me that.”

“Babydoll? But it’s true. You’re nothing but a doll. A pretty little blonde playing dress-up.” The scrape of his beard danced across her jaw as he spoke. She tried to hold in the shiver that coursed through her body, but it wasn’t any use.

“If you think that’s all I am, you’re wrong. You’re so narrow-minded to your own ideas that you can’t even entertain the notion that something might be other than what you think it is. So, I’m blonde, and I like nice clothes. Is that so wrong?” Skylar placed her hands on her hips, turning to face him. Her nipples stiffened under his gaze. She didn’t know what it was about this jerk that turned her on so much, but something about arguing with him set her off. She was ready to explode from lust and fury.

“You don’t belong here, doll.” His voice was gravel in her ear as he raised an eyebrow at her.

“You don’t get to make that decision, Grumpy Bear.” She spat his nickname, knowing she was egging him on.

Dyllan’s nostrils flared, red climbing his neck as he stared at her.
