Opening the door, coffee in hand, she eyed up her two friends. “You really didn’t have to come all the way out here.”

“It wasn’t that far, and yes, we did.” Lila passed her as she walked into the house and made her way into the kitchen. “Ooh, coffee.”

“Why do I get the impression she doesn’t need any more coffee?” Skylar asked Mandy as she stepped inside.

“She doesn’t. She’s had two since I’ve been with her, and I have a feeling she had many more before leaving the house this morning.”

“Dyllan! You’d better not be naked in here!” Lila yelled from the kitchen.

“He’s not here, Lila. You’re safe.” Skylar laughed as she led Mandy into the kitchen, finding Lila with coffee in hand.

“Sorry, helped myself.” Lila took a sip of her coffee as she glared at Skylar. “Talk. Why are you here, and what have you told your sidekick here?”

“My sidekick?” Skylar laughed as she looked at Mandy, who shrugged in response while biting her lip, attempting to stifle a smile.

“Yes, Thelma to your Louise, Amy to your Penny, Monica to your Rachel. Give it to me.” She took another sip of coffee while giving the ‘gimme’ motion with her free hand.

“Wait, which one am I?” Mandy asked, sneaking a smile at Skylar.

“I think Thelma, Amy, and Monica? That makes me Louise, Penny and Rachel. Ooh, I loved all those characters.” Skylar giggled as she turned to Mandy.

“Hey, you can be Dorothy to her Blanche for all I care; just fill me in on what’s going on,” Lila snapped as she drew the attention back to herself.

“Well, this isn’t really the way I wanted to tell you.” Skylar looked down at her lap as she wrung her hands together.

Lila gasped. “Oh my God, you are hooking up. Are you pregnant? Are you having his secret baby? Is he taking care of you? Oh my God, Dyllan as a dad? I don’t think I know what that looks like; he’s all gruff, and grumbly, and—”

“Lila!” Skylar shouted, getting her attention. “No, I’m not pregnant.”

“But you’re hooking up?” Lila’s eyes were wide as she asked.

“Well, yes, technically,” Skylar hedged as she and Mandy tracked Lila as she started to pace the kitchen.

“What do you mean technically?” Lila stopped, looking at her with an open mouth.

“We are hooking up, but it’s more than that.” Skylar snuck a glance at Mandy, who gave her an assuring smile before moving on. “We’re married.”

“You’re what?” Lila screeched, taking a seat on a stool at the island. “What? When? How?”

“Is she going to be okay? I think I broke her,” Skylar whispered to Mandy.

“Nah, it takes a lot more than that to break Lila. Just give her a second,” Mandy whispered back.

“I can hear you,” Lila huffed.

“Should we just get her a coffee IV,” Skylar added.

“Yeah, let her truly tap into her inner Lorelei,” Mandy added.

“Ugh, I can’t with you two!” Lila huffed. “Can you please just answer my fucking question? What do you mean you’re married? When did this happen?”

“Language, Lila,” Skylar said as she sat on the stool beside Lila. “In Vegas.”

“I need more information,” Lila said, taking a sip of coffee. Mandy pulled up a chair from the kitchen table, sending Skylar a sympathetic smile.

“After the club, when you all went back to your rooms, Dyllan and I ended up at another bar and drank some more and the next thing I knew, I was waking up beside him married,” she stated calmly. While she’d come to terms with being married to Dyllan, her heart still picked up the pace at the thought of what her friends were going to say.

“Okay—but you two couldn’t stand each other in Vegas. Why stay married?” Lila asked, placing her coffee mug on the counter.
