“You starve me, husband. Fill my belly and maybe we’ll talk about filling other things later.” She gave him a wink as she looked down to see the towel around his waist do a horrible job at trying to contain him.

“You’re a tease,” he grunted as he walked to his suitcase and started pulling out clothes. “Do you know where you want to go for dinner?”

“I’ve been craving this Irish pub we used to go to all the time. It’s just around the corner from here.” Her stomach growled at the thought of the food she’d missed so much.

“Sounds good to me, but only if you rub it in Zach’s face when we get home. He hates when we eat at other pubs without him,” he stepped into his boxers as he let his towel drop, giving Skylar a brief view of his gloriously naked behind.

“Deal,” she said half-heartedly, mesmerized as she watched him get dressed.

Walking into the dimly lit pub, Skylar smiled at the familiarity of it. She’d spent a lot of time here with her friends over the years, and in a way, it felt like coming home. It wasn’t like Cheers where they yelled her name when she walked in, but there was a sense of peace that only came when with coming home.

Grabbing a table by the red brick wall, they settled into their high top; the waitress stopped briefly to drop off menus before delivering a tray of drinks to the table next to them.

“This place is—lively,” Dyllan grumbled as he picked up his menu.

“It’s a Saturday night, Grumpy Bear,” Skylar laughed as she picked up her own. “Have you become so accustomed to Logan Creek you forgot what the city felt like.”

He grunted as he scanned his menu.

“What can I get ya?” The waitress asked as she tucked her tray under her arm and grabbed the pen from behind her ear.

Dyllan motioned for her to go first. A smile crossed her face, mouth watering as she made her order. “Can I please have a Dirty Snakebite, and a Mushroom Cheeseburger and Fries?”

Dyllan raised an eyebrow at her, shock written on his face. It wasn’t her usual order when they ate out, but it’d been so long since she’d eaten here.

“I’ll have a Kilkenny and the Corned Beef.”

“You got it.” The waitress snatched up the menus and made her way to the bar.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you order like that before, babydoll. I’m impressed,” Dyllan said with a smirk.

“Hey, you have to treat yourself and believe me, this place is worth it.”

“So, what else don’t I know about you? A secret raver? Clubber? I know!” He snapped his fingers and pointed at her. “You’re really into the underground punk scene.”

“No,” Skylar laughed. “I never really had time to do much once my business was up and running. Weekdays were for consulting and meetings; weekends were for the actual events. I managed to sneak in some yoga classes, or go for a run, but this was a luxury.”

The waitress returned to drop off their drinks before rushing off to another table.

“Mmm, I’ve been missing this drink. Do you think Zach would make something like it?” Skylar asked as she savoured the rich, malty taste of stout mixed with cider. The splash of bitters rounded out the flavour.

“Moan like that again, babydoll, and I’ll make sure Zach makes whatever the fuck you want. But you’ll only be able to drink it at home because there’s no way in hell I’m letting any other man hear that sound you just made,” Dyllan whispered.

The look he shot her went straight to her core. His gaze, mixed with the alcohol, made her temperature rise. As much as she’d been looking forward to eating at her favourite spot again, the look Dyllan gave her made her want to forget the food and run back to the hotel.

“Skylar?” A voice from another table rang out, drawing her attention from her husband’s lustful stare.

“Lindsay?” Skylar asked, jumping from her seat and giving the woman a hug. “It’s so great to run into you!”

“You, too! What are you doing here?” She snuck a glance over Skylar’s shoulder, a wide smile crossing her face. “And who is that?”

“Lindsay, I’d like you to meet my husband Dyllan.” Skylar hadn’t gotten used to introducing him as her husband, but she could admit it felt good.

“You’re what? When did this happen?” Lindsay exclaimed, eyes wide as she looked between them and then down at Skylar’s hand. “Holy crap, look at that ring!”

“Uh—it’s all very recent. It happened so quickly,” Skylar answered, taking a seat and motioning for Lindsay to join them. “Lindsay is a fellow wedding planner I knew from when I started my business.”

“Nice to meet you,” Dyllan said cordially.
