Dyllan tried to focus on the group as Lila dealt the cards. Travis instructed her as she went, making everyone laugh at their bickering. They’d had their own issues while coming together. Dyllan still didn’t know all the details about what it was that brought them together, but he knew they made each other happy, even if they drove one another crazy in the process.

Zach had grabbed an extra seat and sat next to Mandy. Dyllan watched how Zach fawned over his pregnant wife, speaking softly and always touching her. He’d noticed a change in Zach since he woke up to his feelings about Mandy and got his head out of his ass. He’d stepped up and been what they needed, for both Mandy and her kids, which was something he respected the hell out of Zach for.

The biggest change he noticed was Brody. Kade managed to pull him out of his shell and let him see that there was more to life than his work. When Dyllan had returned to Logan Creek and heard about how Brody had inherited his farm at a young age, he’d been devastated for him. Seeing how Brody let Kade in and showed him that he could be a responsible farmer while also having everything else in life he wanted made Dyllan feel hopeful that maybe he could do the same. He could have Skylar, be mayor, and continue helping Deanna.

The woman in Dyllan’s lap had changed his life forever. It hadn’t mattered that they’d had a horrible introduction to each other or that it took them getting blackout drunk to realize that they needed to be together. That fateful night in Vegas had changed the course of Dyllan’s life, and he was now able to admit that it was for the better. Without Skylar, Dyllan didn’t even want to think about what path his life would be on. Probably one to self-destruction.

Looking around the table to his group of friends Dyllan now realized that he had everything he needed right there at that table, and nothing in the world could make him lose that.

Epilogue

Skylar

One Year Later

“Are you ready?” Mandy asked as she handed Skylar her bouquet.

“Ready to re-marry my husband? You bet I am,” Skylar laughed as she accepted the flowers.

“At least you’ll remember it this time,” Lila joked from behind Skylar.

“Lila!” Kade exclaimed.

Skylar turned, laughing, as the two friends squared off while holding their very pregnant bellies.

“What? Am I wrong?” Lila countered.

Smiling as she looked at her friends as they all laughed, thinking of how much all their lives had changed in the last two years. Kade and Lila were reunited with their first loves and married with babies on the way. Mandy opened herself back up to love after losing her husband, to marry Zach with three adorable children.

Even though Skylar hadn’t been able to see her friends get their happily ever afters, she was thrilled to have them with her when she found her own. Standing in Skylar and Dyllan’s bedroom in her floor-length cream coloured wedding dress, she knew that everything she needed was either in this room or waiting for her at the end of an aisle.

“Are you guys ready to get this show on the road?” Zach asked, popping his head through the bedroom door.

“Yup, two minutes,” Mandy said, giving him a soft smile.

Skylar didn’t miss the way Zach’s eyes travelled over Mandy’s body, lust clear in his eyes, or the way Mandy still blushed under his appraisal.

Her heart fluttered as she thought of how her body lit on fire under Dyllan’s gaze. How she’d come to know which looks meant he had something in store for her when they got home and which ones meant he wouldn’t be able to wait.

The last year had been such a whirlwind, from waking up married to almost losing him, but in the end, it had all been worth it. Even with the biggest heartbreak, she’d experienced the greatest joy and found a love that she didn’t think existed for her.

“Skylar, you’re dad’s outside. It’s go time,” Lila said with a soft smile.

“Thank you. All of you. I wouldn’t be here without you guys.” Tears filled Skylar’s eyes as she hugged her three friends.

“Okay, let’s get this started before we all have mascara running down our faces,” Kade joked as she pulled back.

The friends laughed as they grabbed their bouquets, giving Skylar a quick hug before leaving the room. Once Skylar was alone, she took a deep breath, getting ready for what was to come. Chuckling to herself, she thought it was crazy that she was nervous walking down the aisle and saying vows to a man she’d been married to for exactly a year, but she couldn’t help the fluttering of butterflies in her stomach.

The creaking of the door opening drew her attention to her dad walking in. The smile on his face made her own grow wider.

“Are you ready, hun?” he asked, softly shutting the door behind him.

“I think so,” she answered. “It’s so funny. I’ve talked to hundreds of brides at this very moment of their wedding, but I have no idea what to think right now.”

“Are you happy?” He walked toward her, taking her hand.

“Happier than I’ve ever been.” She didn’t have to think twice about her answer. She knew no matter what she faced, Dyllan would be right there with her, with all the love and support she needed.
