She gave high fives to the boys before standing beside Dyllan, linking her arm with his and resting her head on his shoulder.

From the moment she stepped to the top of the aisle, he’d been transfixed by just how beautiful she looked. A creme dress of lace hugged her body, accentuating her curves. He couldn’t wait to get his hands on her and rip that dress off of her while also never wanting to take his eyes off of her in it.

“Aunty Skylar, Uncle Dyllan said he had to kiss you; is that true?” Thomas asked, his nose scrunched up.

“Yeah, Thomas. That’s kinda part of the wedding ceremony,” Skylar said with a laugh.

“I’m never getting married,” Thomas said, crossing his arms.

“Hey! Do you like dinosaurs?” Mandy’s son Daniel ran up to Thomas with a plastic T-Rex in his hand.

“I do!” Thomas’ face lit up as he looked at the roaring dinosaur in the other boy’s hand.

“Yay! Come with me!” Daniel said, running off through the crowd.

Thomas followed excitedly, yelling for the other boy to wait up.

Mandy and Zach joined them, baby Emma on Zach’s hip and their daughter Avery at their side.

“Avery, why don’t you show Maddox where the dessert table is?” Zach asked with a smile, shooing the kids off on their own.

“Come on; they have jars and jars of different kinds of candy!” Avery exclaimed as she waived Maddox to follow her.

The adults laughed as the kids ran off, making new friends with each other as they went. Dyllan had to admit it was cute as hell seeing them interact, and he regretted that he hadn’t let Deanna and the boys into his life at Logan Creek even sooner.

Brody and Travis joined them, grabbing glasses from the bar.

“Sparkling wine,” Travis said, passing out flutes.

“And sparking apple juice for you two,” Brody said, passing two separate ones to Kade and Lila.

“What’s this for?’ Skylar asked, accepting a glass from Travis.

“A toast,” Travis said, wrapping his arm around Lila’s shoulders. “To Dyllan and Skylar. Here’s to one year of wedded bliss, and a wedding you’ll actually remember.”

Everyone laughed as they took a sip of their drinks. Dyllan pulled Skylar close to him, giving her a kiss on her temple. “I love you,” he whispered in her ear.

She turned to him, her smile bright as she held his gaze, “I love you, too.”

“I promise I’ll spend my life doing everything in my power to make you happy, babydoll. This past year has been the best year of my life.”

“And it’s only going to get better, Grumpy Bear.” She clinked her glass to his as they wound their arms around each other’s, taking a drink of their wine.

It was then, surrounded by his friends and his wife by his side, that he knew no matter what life threw at him, all he needed was right in front of him.
