“Yes, of course,” I tell her. It would do us both some good to see one another, I think. “I’ll book my flight and make reservations by the end of the day tomorrow, okay?”

“Okay.” She sounds happy, which lightens the heaviness weighing on me. “I love you, Ladybug. Now go get ready for bed and for school tomorrow.”

Kyle watches me as I make my way back over to the couch.

“Uh, uh,” he warns with a shake of his head as he pulls me in between his legs. “You sit over here.”

My body eases into his warmth as I lean back against his chest.

“Where were we?” he murmurs in my ear before pressing a kiss to my earlobe.

My body shudders. He quickly undoes the strings of my apron, removing it and tossing it to the floor. Then, he slides a hand over my shoulder to cups my breast, covered only by the lacy fabric of my bra.

“Oh no.” I snatch the remote control from next to us and turn the television on.

“The hell are you doing?”

I laugh. “You disappointed my niece. And I cannot hang out with someone who lets her down by not watching one of her favorite movies ever.” I navigate to the correct app and pull upThe Greatest Showman.

“Riley, we’re nothanging out,” he comments. “We’re about to fuck.”

Before I can respond, he moves his hand lower to cup my sex. My determination wavers briefly before I summon the strength to take hold of his wrist.

“No, you have to watch it.”

“Next time.” He plants a kiss to the back of my neck.

“What if there isn’t a next time?”

He jerks back. “Why wouldn’t there be?”

I shrug. “I don’t know. I didn’t realize this wasn’t just a weekend fling for you.”

Kyle sits all the way up, somehow keeping his hands on my waist. He maneuvers my body so that I’m sitting with my legs straddling his as we sit facing one another.

“Riley, I told you once I put my dick inside of you that you’re mine, didn’t I?”

He’s so vulgar. And yet, my nipples harden from his words.

“Y-Yes.”

“Do you take me for a man who doesn’t mean what he says?”

I shake my head.

“What was that?”

“No,” I answer, knowing he wanted to hear me say it out loud.

He lifts his fingers and traces my lips. “I’ve wanted you ever since the first moment I laid eyes on you.”

I blink in shock. “The way I recall it, you couldn’t wait to get rid of me. Your security guard threw me out of that club.”

He has the audacity to chuckle. “Yet, here we are.”

All types of emotions I can’t name roll around in my belly. One of which I can identify as guilt.

To avoid thinking about the guilt, I pull back when Kyle moves forward to draw my lips to his.
