A groan pushes through my lips at the way I want to fill that mouth of hers with the rod pulsing between my legs.

I rise to my feet and cup her face. I bring our lips to touch but I don’t deepen the kiss the way every cell in my body wants me to. I can’t.

“Finish eating,” I order.

“This is really good by the way,” she says around another bite of the lentil salad. “You still won’t tell me what’s in that dressing of yours.” She side-eyes me.

“I made sure to include the carbs from the dressing in the calculation of your insulin.”

She rolls her eyes. “I know. You always take care of me. But what if I want to make it on my own?”

I shrug. “Why would you when you have me?” I wiggle my eyebrows, making her laugh.

“What if I asked really nicely?”

Around a smirk I reply, “It’s a secret.”

“Is it?” She raises a perfectly arched eyebrow. Her expression turns saucy.

My heart rate kicks up a notch.

She leans across the kitchen isle. “What if I gave you something in return?” She runs her tongue across her bottom lip.

A shudder runs through me. I swear she wouldn’t tease me like this if she knew how thin my restraint is.

Noting the empty salad bowl, I move it to the side.

“What do you have in mind?”

CHAPTER25

Monique

My nipples harden from the way Diego’s eyes darken. A moan rises up my throat and out of my mouth from the way he bites his bottom lip. With his smoldering gaze on me like this, I feel like I’m the center of his entire world.

To be honest, it’s not an entirely new feeling. He’s always had a way of making me feel like I am the only person in a crowded room. The only person worth looking at.

My stomach muscles tighten as the many memories of him watching me with such an intense focus stream through my mind.

How long has he looked at me this way?

It’s a question I don’t dare try to answer right now. Or ask out loud. The response might be more than I’m ready to hear.

Instead of saying anything, I wrap my arms around his broad shoulders and hover my mouth just above his.

“My numbers are fine. Let me convince you to give me that recipe.”

A gasp escapes me when Diego rises to his feet, lightning fast. His large hands move to my thighs as he lifts me to wrap my legs around his waist.

Diego takes long strides toward his bedroom, not once breaking eye contact with me.

The automatic lights illuminate the room as we enter. The way he lays me down on the bed isn’t soft. My back hits the mattress harder than usual. Before I can blink, Diego hovers above me. His expression is unreadable as he stares down at me.

But his eyes give his emotions away. He’s fighting hard to restrain himself. I know this look. But I don’t want him to hold back. I want more of him.

I lift up to run my tongue along that throbbing vein in his neck. A wild growl pierces the air. It almost takes me a few beats to realize it came from the man holding me. My brain kicks into gear when I feel the hard length in between his legs press against my stomach.

But he remains still. He just looks at me as if trying to figure out what to do with me.
