“You ready?” she called as she unlocked the door.

“No,” he replied, sounding a lot more like the grumpy Beau from the first year they’d done this.

She stepped back into the bedroom. “How about this?” She spread her arms wide.

Beau’s eyes went wide as he took her in.

She laughed. “You told me last time that if I had a clown suit with baggy pants that’s what I should go for.”

He shook his head and ran a hand through his hair.

Becca frowned. “What’s wrong?”

“I still want to fuck you. Even in that. And it’s messing with me.”

She snorted in surprise. “Really?”

“Need me to prove it?”

“Maybe.”

He took a step forward. She put up a hand, laughing. “Never mind. This is a fetish I donotwant to open up.”

He nodded. “Same.”

She laughed again. “Okay, this one is definitely comfortable. So clown pants it is. Let me put on some make-up and I’m ready.”

“Actually…”

She lifted a brow.

“I’ve been thinking about this and…what would you say to a couple’s costume?”

“You’d be willing to do that?” Beau Hebert was so not the Halloween costume type. “I mean, we could probably dress you up as a clown too.” She’d bet some people would pay big money to see Beau dressed up as a clown in fact.

“I have another idea. In fact, I’ve already got the costumes.”

Becca felt her mouth drop open. “Seriously?”

He looked very pleased with himself. “Yours is in your mom’s bedroom.”

“Yes. Whatever it is. If you came up with it and are willing to do it. I’m in.”

He laughed. “You sure?”

“I love that you want to dress up. Yeah, for sure.”

“Okay, you go in and get dressed. I’ll get mine on in here.”

Sheranto her mother’s room. She loved that Beau was into this. He could be so sweet. She loved the cinnamon roll underneath all the gruffness. She knew that his softness was all for her, and though he told her how much he loved her all the time now, these thingsshowedher.

She stopped in the middle of her mother’s room and turned a full three-sixty. She didn’t see anything. Then she crossed to her mother’s closet and pulled the door open. The white dress was hanging front and center. She immediately started laughing. “This is hilarious,” she called to him.

It was a wedding dress.

And after everything that Autre had put them through, matchmaking, setting them up, pushing them together, it would be funnier than hell to walk into the Halloween party as a bride and groom. Especially after everything that had happened in Vegas.

“You think so?” he called from down the hall.
