“All right, can we just get into the cabin and look around?” Clarabell said.

Cody stood in front of the cabin’s back door. “What are you hoping to find in here?”

“We won’t know until we get in,” Clarabell said.

“Someone put on their sassy…” Cody looked her up and down, taking in the rainbow tights, black socks, poison-green Crocs, and oversized Hello, Kitty t-shirt. “Um, tights, today.”

Clarabell struck a couple of poses. “Thanks.”

“Lord have mercy,” Cody said, then reached up and felt along the top of the door frame. Just like all those years ago, a key lay waiting to be used. He smiled as he brought it down, inserted it, and unlocked the door.

“May I invite you to my breaking and entering?” Cody waved for them to enter.

Demmy went by first, giving him a big smile and patting his chest. “So smooth.”

“Yeah? Just wait until we get home.”

“Oh, my,” Demmy said, and, fanning himself, entered the cabin.

Clarabell and Ollie followed, but before Cody could enter the cabin, he heard movement in the woods again. With his back against the door, he turned his head in that direction and was surprised to see a man looking back at him. He caught only a glimpse before the man turned with a flash of pale skin to flee deeper into the woods.

“Hey!” Cody called.

“What’s going on?” Demmy asked, coming up to him. “What did you see?”

“Do you see anyone out there?” Cody asked, not taking his eyes off the woods.

“No, I don’t see anyone. Who was it?”

“I may be crazy, but I thought it was Jordie.”

“Our trainer Jordie?”

Cody looked down at Demmy. “Yeah. And the weird thing is, after my workout today, I saw him and Hannah leave, get into his truck, and drive off together.”

Demmy blinked in surprise. “Jordie and Hannah?”

“That was my reaction, too,” Cody said. “I mean, talk about hate sex, you know?”

“Why’d you have to put that image in my head?” Demmy made a face.

“Hey, lovebirds,” Clarabell called from inside the cabin. “Come take a look at this.”

With one last look at the woods, Cody followed Demmy into the cabin, leaving the back door open. Clarabell and Ollie stood around what looked like a pile of clothing.

“What is all this?” Demmy asked.

“A random assortment of clothes,” Clarabell said. “Men and women’s clothing, in all sizes. We found it under one of the bunk beds over there.”

“You think someone’s been squatting here?” Cody said.

“Someone or something.” Clarabell looked at him over the tops of her glasses.

“What kind of thing would collect clothing from people?” Cody said. “Are they souvenirs or trophies or something?”

Ollie was using his fingertips to pick up articles of clothing and turn them this way and that. “They don’t look like they’re damaged. I mean, there’s no bloodstains or tears or anything.”

“The shit we all talk about these days,” Cody said with a shake of his head.
