Something stirred within, a presence I noticed but had yet to meet. His voice spoke into my head, confirming my fears.

She needs us.

Georgia? Twitchy? Heather? I didn’t know, but I would spill blood to keep them safe.

Chapter 12

“So,” I began, clearingmy throat. “What’s going on with Georgia?”

Twitchy kicked off her boots and rested her head against the seat before she answered. “Her ex is being an asshole.”

“And her daughter?” Country asked.

Wait. Georgia had a daughter?

“She’s three,” Twitchy informed me, noticing my curiosity. “Her ex used to beat on her, and she tried to run away with Kylie. Cliff is an accountant. He’s got issues with control and women who speak their minds.”

“Asshole,” I spat.

“Yep. Georgia tried to get custody, but he used her involvement in a biker club and lack of a job to make her seem unfit.”

“No way.” That was unfair.

“She lost custody. Cliff doesn’t let her see Kylie much, and she can’t take her out of state.”

“That sucks.” I shook my head. “So, how’s she in trouble?”

“I’m not sure,” Twitchy admitted, brushing thick, tightly wound curls from her face. “She texted an SOS. That’s code for come quick and be ready for anything.”

“And that’s what we’re doing,” Country added from the driver’s seat.

“You’re a good friend to her, Spook. She respects you.”

“I treat her how she should be treated. Georgia has more worth than she recognizes in herself.”

“We both agree on that.”
