“Fuck,” Jack says as he takes in all the reporters.

Andrea’s face turns white as her earlier argument leaves the building with a double-middle-finger salute. Unfortunately, this isn’t my first rodeo. It is for my sisters, which is why Andrea thought it would be no big deal. Everyone always thinks that until they see for themselves.

Reporters can be ruthless. To them, Andrea and Adalyn are nothing but a story. However, that couldn’t be farther from the truth, and my sisters won’t be controlled by these fuckers.

Jack doesn’t even slow down as he turns the truck into the driveway. The reporters hurry out of his path, and it makes a dark part of me that hates these assholes smile. The flashes from the cameras are almost blinding, even in the middle of the day.

A whispered, “Oh my God,” from Andrea says it all.

“Stay in the truck until I open your door,” Jack tells her. Looking at me now, he hands me his keys. “Get the house unlocked when we get past them. I’ll need help shielding her to the door.”

Before I can respond, Jack is out of the truck and making his way around to Andrea’s door. I open my door and get out as he opens hers. Reporters are immediately yelling questions at us; specifically asking Andrea for her reaction to Morales’s testimony.

“No comment,” I say as we shoulder past them. Microphones are shoved into our faces with every step.

Jack and I flank Andrea on each side as we ignore any further questions. We hurry to the front door, and I quickly unlock it. Jack pushes Andrea into the foyer first, then follows her. I slam the door behind us and lock it back.

Andrea takes a seat on the sofa, and Jack sits beside her.

“Holy hell. How are there so many of them so quickly?” she asks.

I remain standing. My blood is boiling with the audacity of these fucking reporters showing up at her home to harass her.

“There are probably more on the way,” I respond flatly.

Her face pales at that. “Maybe I should make a statement.” She looks at Jack and me for an answer. “I haven’t done anything wrong. Morales is full of shit.”

“I don’t know that making a statement will help. It surely won’t make the reporters go away,” Jack explains, trying to ease the tension radiating from my overwhelmed sister.

I walk over to the window. As I slowly pull back the curtain, the camera flashes blind me. They’ve invaded the lawn. There are tripods and cameras set up all over the yard. Fucking ridiculous. I let the curtain fall back into place and walk over to sit across from the two of them. I fold my hands in front of me and hang my head. This is already a fucking mess.

“I suggest not giving a statement. You should probably hire an attorney. Let your attorney speak on your behalf.”

She scoffs at me. “I don’t need an attorney, Andrew. I haven’t done anything wrong. Hiring an attorney makes me look guilty.”

“It’s something to think about,” Jack adds flatly.

Andrea turns to face him but doesn’t immediately respond. She looks like she might be considering it. Jack and I can tell her the exact same thing, and she reacts completely different to each of us. I chuckle to myself at that thought. At least he can get through to her.

“You don’t have to decide right now. It’s just something to think about.” I don’t want to add to her worrying, but I want her to be realistic. This won’t just go away, and the press damn sure won’t either.

“I’m going to check on Addy. Hopefully, they haven’t found her house yet,” she says.

I nod, knowing that one of us needs to check on her. I’ll text Nathan later. We need to get this under our control as much as possible, and that means having everyone on board with the plan.

Andrea sighs with relief. “She says no reporters are at their house, but she’s freaking out a little.”

“Maybe call her? We can all talk,” I respond.

“Yeah, okay. Hopefully, we can calm her down.” She hits dial, putting the phone on speaker and laying it on the coffee table. It only rings once before Addy answers.

“What the hell is going on? Nathan said there are reporters in town?” She sounds pissed.

“Yeah, they’re camped out on our front lawn. I’m glad to hear they haven’t made it over to your place. Hopefully, it stays that way,” Andrea says.

“Is Nathan around you, Addy?” I ask, just as his voice comes over the line.

“Yep, I’m here. Jack said we’re calling in SJ again?”
