Zane grabbed a sweet little bouquet of pink flowers off the entrancewaytable.

“We’re getting married,” he said bluntly, answering the look of mild confusion on Flynn’s face as he handed the bouquet tome.

I rolled my eyes. “For now,” I muttered under my breath as I took the bouquet. The stems were cut short and it was tied with a white satin bow. It fit perfectly in myhand.

Nicetouch.

Still, this whole thing felt hella ludicrous when I glimpsed the silent question in Flynn’s eyes. I was pretty sure he wouldn’t tell a soul what he’d seen, but I had to becertain.

I drew my shoulders back and held his gaze, undaunted by his size, the fact that he had a gun, or the cool, professional detachment that had settled over his features again. Yes, I was a small woman, but I ate rough-and-ready dudes for breakfast on a regular basis as part of my job. Security guys, roadies, rock stars… badass, manly men didn’t fazeme.

Just beautiful, batshit crazy ones,apparently.

“I swear on my mother’s grave,” I told him, “you tell anyone about this, I will kill you. You won’t know where or when or how, but I’ll do it. I don’t care if you’re all ex-military and shit. You will die. Slowly. I will kill you and all your future babies, too. You don’t want to fuck withme.”

“Know that, Maggie,” Flynn said with a little nod. A small smile tugged at his lips as he looked down at me, all tough in my sexy pink dress and four-inch heels, holding my little bouquet oftulips.

Yeah, they were tulips. My favoriteflowers.

I eyed my “groom” sidelong as he offered me an elbow. I took it, feeling kinda regretful for the thing about the babies. Over the top much? Whatever. Flynn didn’t even have a girlfriend as far as I knew, much less any babies on theway.

“I love it when you threaten people,” Zane said, and Flynn looked away, pretending not to hear. From here on in, he was just a fly on the wall… a blind and stone-deaf fly with agun.

“Yeah,” I said, a little sheepish. “I’m pretty good atit.”

Chapter Seven

Zane

Flynnand I strolled into the wedding chapel to find a bridal party waiting in the small lobby and a ceremony going on in the main room, beyond a set of closed doors. I could hear voices and laughter. Hopefully they were almostdone.

I walked right over to the small reception desk, locking on the woman who stood behindit.

“Hi,” she said when she saw me, perking up. She was about forty, nice-looking in a MILF sort of way, her blouse buttoned a little too high. She looked friendly, though. Shouldn’t be too hard to get what weneeded.

“Hey, sweetheart.” I’d put on my cap and pulled it low; no idea if she recognized me. “Looking to getmarried.”

“Great,” she said. “We’d be happy to accommodate you. It’ll just be a bit of a wait. There’s a ceremony in progress and another couple ahead of you. About… forty-fiveminutes?”

I leaned casually on the desk and looked her in the eye. “How about instead I give you whatever you make in a month, right now, to clear this place out and marry me and mygirl.”

She stared at me, a little speechless, but I could see the wheels turning. She glanced guiltily at the wedding party who were chattering excitedly on the other side of theroom.

“Oh, yeah,” I added, tapping the small glass display case next to the desk, “and I’m gonna need a couple ofrings.”

Minutes later,I walked back out to the limo, reached in and took Maggie by thehand.

“Who were all those people who just left, lookingpissed?”

Damn. The girl didn’t missmuch.

“Don’t forget your flowers,” I told her as she scooted towardme.

“Got ’em!” Dizzy’s date, behind her, held up the bouquettriumphantly.

Maggie scowled at me as she climbed out of the limo. I held onto her hand and steered her toward the chapel door. The woman from the reception desk was holding it open forus.

“I saw a woman in a bridal dress, Zane.” Maggie craned her neck to see over the limo, where the wedding party I’d just had kicked out was piling into a couple of taxis. “She did not look like a happynewlywed.”
