And an eye full they got.

They watched intently as Adler swung his leg over the seat, his back to his groupies, took off his helmet, and ran his fingers through his dark hair.

Stacey almost gagged when some of the girls let out a distinctive sigh when he took off his well-worn leather jacket and threw it over the handlebars. She could see how he got the girls’ attention. He was a good-looking guy. He wore tight jeans, cowboy boots, and a tight blue t-shirt which showed off his muscular arms and his eagle tattoo on his left bicep.

He turned and searched the crowd. Stacey was sure he was looking for Tristan.

“Okay. Whoisthat?” Desiree asked as Adler sauntered over to Tristan.

“That’s Tristan’s cousin. Adler. And yes, before you ask, he’s single, ladies.”

“I call dibs.” Desiree chimed in. “You need to introduce me, Stace.”

Stacey caught Desiree’s eyes. “You sure you want to go there?”

The pretty girl nodded, pushing her auburn hair behind her shoulder. “Oh, yeah. I’m sure. I’m definitely sure.”

Stacey walked with her entourage toward Tristan and Adler.

She wrapped an arm around Tristan’s waist and introduced him and Adler to the girls. She rolled her eyes as Desiree pushed in front and extended her hand to Adler. She didn’t have the heart to tell Desiree that just last night Adler swore off women. Of course, he just got punched, screwed over—literally—and wasn’t in the mood. Who knew how long that would last.

“It’s cake time!” Kristen announced. Everyone moved toward the cake and present table, but Stacey stayed put. Tristan yanked on her arm when he realized she wasn’t moving on her own. Her eyes rolled, and her shoulders drooped, but she followed behind him reluctantly.

It was the worst-sounding rendition of Happy Birthday she ever heard. But she found herself enjoying it.

“Blow out the candles,” Elizabeth said.

“And don’t forget to make a wish.” Kristen chimed in.

Stacey glanced next to her and met Tristan’s gaze. Her insides warmed as a smile grew on both their faces. She knew what her wish was going to be. It was obvious. She pulled him closer to her side and blew out the candles.

All of them went out.

Chad’s eyes perked up. “Dang, Stace. You’re good at blowing.”

He pounded Tristan on the back. “You’re a lucky guy.”

“Yes, yes, I am.” His grin met his ears, and everyone laughed. What the heck! Stacey felt her face turn red and heat up.

She elbowed him in the side.

Stacey sat watching the party as she ate her cake. The cake was delicious, and all her friends, here for her, and all these presents. It was too much.

“Hey gorgeous.” Tristan sat down next to her. “What are ya thinking about?”

Stacey melted into his smoky gaze. “Just how amazing tonight has been. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” He brushed her hair from her shoulders. “And thank you for including Adler. I think he enjoyed himself. He’s already left with a couple of phone numbers.”

A chuckle escaped from her throat. “Yeah, I was concerned when he first rode up that the girls would start a cat fight for his attention.”

Most of the guests had left, and Stacey was talking with the girls about her interview and about how well it went.

“See, and you were concerned about Doctor…What did you call her?” Jessica asked.

Stacey, Kristen, and Elizabeth looked at each other and laughed. “You wouldn’t say the name even if you remembered it, Jess.” Elizabeth said. “She called her Doctor Bitchy.”

“That’s right.” Jessica nodded. “And no, I wouldn’t have. But just think. If it wasn’t for her, you wouldn’t have gotten that interview.”
