He rose from the bed and strode to the kitchen. He returned with a glass of water. I winced as I satup.

“Sore?”

“Not sore enough,” I said, as I took asip.

He chuckled. “You…I don’t have words, Lauren. I can’t find the words to tell you how amazing you were, how you made mefeel.”

“It was an experience,” I said, with achuckle.

“One you’ll neverrepeat?”

“One where I need a little more control over my orgasms. I loved watching you, Mackenzie; that turned me on more. You controlled everyone. As much as you don’t have words, neither doI.”

It was his turn tochuckle.

“So your list’s complete,” hewhispered.

“No, there’s one more. One that’s far more important to me than anything we’ve done sofar.”

“I think we need to let your body rest before we get to that. Is there anything I can do foryou?”

“I guess I should shower,” Isaid.

He shook his head. “I cleaned you, it’s my job, Lauren, to care for youafter.”

“You cleanedme?”

“I washed your body, soothed the redness withlotion.”

“Now that’s something Icouldget used to. Can you pass me myphone?”

He frowned at me, but reached over to the dressing table and retrievedit.

I sat and half turned my body away from him. I sent a text. It wastime.

My last request, Mackenzie, and I pray it’s something you’ll agree to. Make love to me, like you meanit.

I pressed send and placed the phone on the bedside cabinet. He looked towards the open door and into the living room where we heard his phone ping. He then looked at me. I let a tear roll down my cheek. He placed his thumb under my eye and caught thenext.

“Am I going to hate what I read?” hewhispered.

“I don’t know,Mackenzie.”

He closed his eyes and sighed before climbing from the bed again. I slid from the bed and stood; surprised my legs were as stable as they were. It was a while before hereturned.

He walked towards me and cupped my face in hishands.

“I can’t do that,” he said. I couldn’t stop the sob that left my mouth. I bowed my head so he couldn’t see thesadness.

“Look at me. Look at me, Lauren, please,” hesaid.

When I raised my head, I saw a man whose face mirrored mine, full ofsadness.

“I can’t do that because…I want so desperately to make love to you. I want to give you my soul, Lauren, but you’ll fucking break me when you walk awaytomorrow.”

I blinked, notunderstanding.

“I…I don’tunderstand.”
