“She is a good fuck, Amber. Maybe you could watch, learn a few tricks.”

“Perhaps, if you think that’s needed.” I resorted to the subservient. It served two purposes. It silenced him, but it also gave me a little satisfaction in knowing he wasn’t getting a rise from me.

“I’ll invite her over. You can cook for us; we’ll play a game. You can be the maid that spies on the master while he fucks the arse of a woman. We will see you and make you join us. How about that?”

I clenched my jaw tight, drawing in a deep breath without him seeing. “Again, if you think that’s what I need,” I said.

He laughed and waggled his finger at me. “I know what you’re doing, Amber. If you think I’m going to fuck you and her at the same time, you’re wrong. She’s what I need in the bedroom.”

“Then I wish you luck.” I rose. “If you’ll excuse me, I need to tidy up the bedroom.”

There was a bloodied towel on the floor, the pillow splattered with red. The sheet was wet. I was sure my bladder had given out on me, and his cum stained the duvet.

I wanted to burn it all. I bundled it up ready for disposal. I dressed gingerly, in loose clothing. Tears sprang to my eyes as the material brushed against the welts on my back.

I wish he would fuck her here, then I could stab the pair of them,I thought.

I shook the thought from my mind. I needed to get a plan together.

CHAPTERTWELVE

I didn’t seeAndrew for the next couple of days, and I was so glad. It gave me time to pack some items of clothing in a small duffel bag. I then took that to work and left it there. I told no one for fear of him finding out.

I knew it would take some time before I could escape, and I was prepared to wait.

Each week, when I shopped, I would return a few items and collect the cash. Andrew would see the receipt and it matched the amount that left the account. He would never see the cash that came back and started to mount up.

I wasn’t sure exactly how much I needed, but knowing I was going to leave my job, it had to be substantial enough to disappear.

Andrew would find me if I stayed in London, in England even, I thought. He might not want me, he might hate me, but he’d never want to lose face and have people know his wife left him. Oh, no, Andrew would concoct something to show him as the victim. But too many people knew about his beatings.

I would call upon those that offered help because I knew I couldn’t do it alone. But only when I was able to.

In the meantime, I kept my distance from him. When he was home, I cooked and cleaned, then he would go out and not come home until the early hours. He’d be up and out to work before I rose. I prayed him burning the candle at both ends would give him a heart attack before I left.

I spent many hours hoping he’d die. Either he’d have a car crash or get run over. I’d laugh at the thought of him having an aneurism while fucking Petra. That would be funny. I could imagine the call from paramedics, or the police, and them having to tell me where and how they found him. I wondered if Petra would even say he had a wife at home.

I made sure to hide Daniel’s business card in my desk for when I needed it.

“Hi, you seem really preoccupied at the moment,” Bill asked.

I was sitting at my desk, lost in thoughts of Andrew’s demise and ignoring the ringing phone.

“Oh, God, I’m so sorry. I was miles away. Let me get this,” I replied.

“May I speak with Amber Stowley, please?” I heard.

My heart lurched in my chest. Was it the police? Had my dreams come true?

“Speaking.”

There was a chuckle. “It’s Daniel. I thought I’d put on my best telephone voice.”

I laughed. “You fooled me, for sure. Are you after Bill?”

“No, you. You hadn’t called and I think I gave you enough time, so I took action.”

“I hadn’t called?”
