“Until you get bored,” I fired back.

“Boys,” Archer yelled. “Shall we sound check before the crowd shows up, thinking we’ve gone back to those unprofessional assholes we were for the last few months?”

His words poked me like I was an angry bear. The last few months had been a nightmare; Archer’s meltdown after Nee went missing, but then also Charlie’s behavior that had almost cost us our contract with the record label. I’d been the one to hold us together and stop them both from sinking into a mess they couldn’t get out of. “You mean you two were?” I hated throwing their pain back in their face, but I was sick of being the strong one, the dependable one, the one that picked up the pieces of their fucked up lives but never got to step out of line.

Charlie failed to see the tone in my voice and kept pushing. “Yeap, while you were obviously getting up to no good with someone linked to the band.” He paused, waiting for my reaction. “Shall we take bets on who?”

And just like that, Dawson walked onto the stage. No one else would notice, but he’d obviously showered and changed, looking like a model stepping onto the runway, while I looked like I’d been fucked sideways, dragged through a hedge, and forced to wear his cum like a rite of passage.

He pushed his hand through his wavy, dark blond hair as if reminding me how soft it was and how much I liked to feel it under my fingers and my mood darkened.

“Hey, boys. You ready for tonight? These people have been waiting a long time for you to come back to Miami, so don’t fuck it up.” I watched as he looked at Charlie and Archer before his gaze landed on me. He licked his lips slowly, as if deciding how best to devour me next.

Archer let out a smug snicker before he coughed. “Hey, Dawson. Do you know who Fox here has been messing about with? I think we need to buy them lunch so they stop feeding on his neck,” Archer asked, his eyes never leaving mine. My friends knew me too well, and it wouldn’t take either of them long to work out who had given me the hickey.

Dawson’s eyes flared and his cheeks flushed, suddenly looking like a kid getting caught stealing in a sweet shop; a reaction I wasn’t expecting. He quickly schooled the emotion from his face. “I’ve got better things to do with my time than keep a list of who Fox here has fucked.” Dawson turned and walked to the edge of the stage, glancing back over his shoulder, his eyes burning into mine. “Plus, it would be so long, it wouldn’t fit on the tour bus.”

He looked so hot walking away that I couldn’t tear my eyes from his ass. “You haven’t got enough paper or lead in your pencil,” I jeered, giving him my best hard stare, but I knew I was fooling no one—especially the sexy man with the stone-cold heart in front of me.

Marshall

Myphonerang, andI answered on the second ring. “Marshall, it’s Richie,” he told me, as if I couldn’t see his name flashing on the screen. This man was the worst technophobe.

“Richie, what a surprise,” I let out sarcastically.

“Fuck off. I had news, but now, maybe I won’t bother.”

“Spill.” I kicked my feet out in front of me and leaned back in the chair of the security office I was working surveillance in today.

“I have a job for you.”

“Don’t you always? Isn’t that your job as my boss?”

“Really? Shall I hang up and give it to someone else?”

“It depends on what it is.” I’d worked for this man for two years and despite his frosty demeanor, he was one of the good ones, so I knew I should listen.

He tutted.

“Fine, sorry.”

“Have you heard of the band, Alchemy Myth?”

I paused. “I think so. Rock band, three men?”

“Yeap, that’s them.”

“Okay. And?”

“And one of them needs some protection for his girlfriend. It’s a long story and I can only tell you if you agree to the job and sign the NDA.”

“Well, tell me about the job and I can decide if I want to say yes.”

“They are in the US for a few weeks and then they are going back to the UK. I can’t tell you much more before you sign the NDA.”

“Right.”

“Whatever happens with the client they want you to watch, there’s a long term job with the band.”
