“You tried to protect him. From what I’ve heard, you did everything you could to stop him from breaking.”

Dawson
“Right,I’vesortedMarshall’svisa. You’ll have it by the time you’re due to come home. Are you sure you want to ride on a bus with the boys?” Fern asked me, the amusement clear in her voice. She’d taken over running the entire label while Addi was on parental leave, and Neo was off sick, and the woman was born to lead. She was a force to be reckoned with.
“I can take one for the team.”
“Okay, well I’ve left it up to you how to divi up the buses, but the security one is full, so Marshall will have to come on one with you and the boys, plus there is Lea, and now apparently Ionee.”
“Yeap, I heard the news. Archer messaged me to say she’d turned up, suitcases in hand. Fuck, if they can find a way back to each other even though she doesn’t remember him, then I will believe in happy endings forevermore.”
“You don’t believe in happy endings, Dawson? That’s very cynical.”
“What can I say? Cynical is my default setting.”
A knock at my door ended our conversation and I opened it to find Fox standing there, dressed in a pair of joggers and an unzipped hoodie, exposing his naked chest. His hair was pulled back in a bun and he was running his fingers through his beard as he stared down at the floor.
I pushed my phone into my pocket as I took him in. Fresh from the shower, face flushed from performing, his turquoise eyes shining like sea glass as he chewed on the inside of his mouth.
Twitching my head for him to come inside so none of the security heard us, I closed the door behind him.
