I sat back, steepling my fingers in front of my lips. “I’d need a team of twenty. I will take a couple of my current staff and leave the rest to run the events we already have in the diary, but I will need to hire more people to help them. I would need the event spec on my desk by the end of the day and an agreement that anything that needs signing off as we go forward is done within twenty-four hours. Time is tight and I can’t have my team sitting around waiting for someone to say yes to table linen or menu options.”

“Done.”

“I would like half my payment up front so I can pay my team a bonus for giving up their lives for the next few months and I’d like to have VIP tickets to the after party for them all.”

“Done.”

I rolled my eyes at Addi. “Looks like you have an event planner. Now, if that’s all, I’m going to have a small nervous breakdown before we get started tomorrow.”

“We look forward to working with you. I’ll send over your contract, a standard NDA, and the event spec, along with my direct number. Any problems going forward, call me… and, Lea, thank you. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you stepping in like this.”

The line went dead, and I turned to say something to Addi, but as I did, the Cosmic Gods barged through her office door. Frankie, twin brothers Mav and Gray, along with lead singer, Tanner, stood emanating rock star status.

“Did she say yes?” Mav asked as he walked to Addi, leaning down and kissing his wife.

“She did,” she murmured against his lips.

“Thank God for that.” Grayson laughed and held out his hands, helping me stand before he pulled me in for a hug. “Can’t go picking up an award for lifetime achievement at a shit party, can we?”

“I thought you said they didn’t know,” I laughed, turning to Addi.

“No, I said I was keeping it quiet. I can’t lie to this lot. We made a pact years ago… no secrets.”

“I still think we’re too young for a lifetime achievement award. Can’t we say no?” Tanner moaned, pushing his tattooed hand through his hair.

“You’re a dick, Tan.” Frankie shoved him before hugging me. “I’m glad you said yes. We could use another girl around here.”

I frowned.

Addi took my hand in hers. “Your office is nice, but it’s too small. I figured you could run your current events from there, but, well, you can take one of the offices here. In fact, the seventh floor is empty. It’s all yours. Call it a thank you for helping us out.”

Taking off my glasses, I pinched my nose. “I can’t. I mean, at least let me pay rent.”

“Nope,” Addi replied in a heartbeat. “Just let us know when you want to move up there.”

“Well.” My lips curled at the corners, as I started planning my to do list. “I guess I’m doing this. Right, I have to go make sure the mayor’s lunch isn’t a shit show. I’ll see you all soon.”

Chapter 3

Lea

Istood, staringoutof my new office windows, looking out across the early morning London skyline when there was a light tap on the open door.

I turned to find Fern standing there. She had been Addi’s assistant since they set up the record label and had just been promoted to run their communications, which she was born to do.

“Hey roomie,” she laughed. “How’s the new office? Addi filled me in.”

“Surreal. I just popped in to take a look at the space before I go tell my team what’s happening.”

“You deserve it. You’re amazing at what you do and you’ll be perfect to plan the Mercurys and the after party.”

She held out a takeaway coffee. “Security told me you were here.” I smiled, pointing at the chair across from my desk, taking a seat too. “Something else on your mind?”

“Fox,” I answered honestly.

She let out a small giggle as she took the lid off her coffee, blowing the steam from the surface. “Are you two not a thing yet?”

I shook my head. “I don’t think he’s into the same things I am.”
